Yeah, she could be in sunny FL shivering her bumpers off.

Mitch, I really think you should hire that job out to snow removal experts.

I know those of you from the northern areas are gonna get a laugh at this, but we are supposed to get down to 22 tonight, 17 Friday night & 18 Saturday night and while that is cold for southwest Louisiana, they announced that all the schools are closing.

Calcasieu Parish Schools close for cold weather

By Crystal Price - bio | email

LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) - Late Thursday afternoon Calcasieu Parish Schools announced all schools will be closed tomorrow due to extremely cold temperatures.

Based on the latest weather advisory, school officials were greatly concerned with the safety of students going to the bus stop Friday morning.

Superintendent Wayne Savoy says there are 17,000 students in the district who wait for the bus at the bus stop everyday.

In addition that amount, there are 4,000 students in Calcasieu Parish who walk to school everyday because they live within the walking zone.

Savoy says he felt it was best to not take any chances and keep kids away from the bitter cold.

I am laughing!!! I walked two miles to school and back when it was below zero! I think there was only one day that I remember the schools closing due to cold weather in Minnesota in recent years and that was because the windchills were around -50 below. We just had windchills at -40 below and they didn't close the schools here. I guess they figure that if we live up here, we can take the cold weather (or if we are stupid enough to live here, we deserve to freeze to death!)

ROFLMAO

But,.... in their defense,.. probably a lot of those kids don't have jackets for that temperature range. Are there heating systems in the schools? Or,.. only a/c? Here we go to school when it's -20°... that's a minus... below -0-. But it's all what is usual for each community. So until you think of their reasons why it will seem funny. After thinking it over it makes sense. :P

You are absolutely right Cedar...but it is laughable to us Northerners! Just depends on what's normal for your area. We've taken our kids trick or treating with snowsuits under their costumes and have gone to high school football games when it was 22! Received this email yesterday...thought I would share it! You could insert many states instead of SD!

COLD IS A RELATIVE THING. . . . . . .BRRRRR!!
65 above zero:
Floridians turn on the heat.
People in South Dakota plant gardens.

60 above zero:
Californians shiver uncontrollably.
People in South Dakota sunbathe.

50 above zero:
Italian & English cars won't start.
People in South Dakota drive with the windows down.

40 above zero:
Georgians don coats, thermal underwear, gloves, wool hats.
People in South Dakota throw on a flannel shirt.

35 above zero:
New York landlords finally turn up the heat.
People in South Dakota have the last cookout before it gets cold.

20 above Zero:
People in Miami all die.
South Dakotans close the windows.

Zero:
Californians fly away to Mexico .
People in South Dakota get out their winter coats.

10 below zero:
Hollywood disintegrates.
The Girl Scouts in South Dakota are selling cookies door to door.

20 below zero:
Washington DC runs out of hot air.
People in South Dakota let the dogs sleep in the house.

30 below zero:
Santa Claus abandons the North Pole.
South Dakotans get upset because they can't start the snow-mobile.

40 below zero:
ALL atomic motion stops.
People in South Dakota start saying...'Cold enough fer ya?'

50 below zero:
Hell freezes over.
South Dakota public schools will open 2 hours late

"35 above zero

People in Minnesota never put their outdoor grills away and use them all winter long! They just shovel a path thru the snow to the grill from the back door.

Actually that is true in the Adirondacks, too. I keep my grill on the deck and cook my steaks outside all winter long. :D Gotta love a wonderfully grilled steak!

But in all fairness you walked into it with your eyes wide open  and Mitch doesn't let any little thing slip by her. But the good thing is I now have an ally against the MMS.(Mean Mitch Syndrome)
