Off to the hospital Kodie MRI

Postby jemek » Mon Jan 04, 2010 10:18 am

She was up early this am...that made it hard to avoid the food and liquids thing. Sent the other kids sneaky into their rooms to eat.

Kodie has her MRI tomorrow morning and we have to be to the hospital by 8am...so I most likely will not make it in for morning coffee.
She will be getting an IV sedation. They said to plan on being there about 4 hours.
This is her brain/spine MRI to check her pituitary gland. They are checking to make sure it developed correctly, that there is no cyst, tumors, or other reasons for it not to be functioning correctly and producing the proper levels of growth hormone. She had Growth hormone testing in November that showed her growth hormone levels to be low, so for some reason her body is not producing the correct levels needed.

All went well. It will be a few days before we get any results back.

We were there longer then planned. We arrived about 7:50 am and got released at 2pm.
She did great and was spoiled by the staff.

Good to know that's over, all but the waiting, which always seems interminable! Nice to hear she had good people working with her, too. After the only MRI I ever had, I am thinking that it might be nice for me to be OUT the next time, too! Claustrophobia made it a horrendous experience for me.

Fingers crossed for some definitive results so you can decide what to do next.

Report is back and all is normal. Which is basically what we expected but you never really know.

So now everything will be complied...all the tests that have been done. Sent to the insurance company for approval to start human growth hormone therapy.

Have no idea how long it will take...hopefully not long at all.

Wonderful news, Kristy!

It was well worth the trouble to learn that good news for you all.

Now, let the growth hormone stuff do its thing!
