Mom bragging...just a touch

Postby kelpie » Sun Jan 03, 2010 9:18 pm

My younger son is a soph in college, studying sports management. Needs to start getting some internships for experience in the field. Sport management program only in first full year as its own department so not many established yet. Sent resumes etc to the several minor league teams in Ft Wayne (halfway between college and home, and only city of any size within commuting range) but didn't hear from any of them. Right before he came home for Christmas break, his advisor suggested he send a friendly reminder. Executive from the basketball team, named the Mad Ants, called and wanted to set up interview. Long story short, he got hired on the spot! It's an upaid slot, but it's a BIG foot in the door. Once school resumes he will spend 2 afternoons a week in the office but he is also expected to be at all home games and there were several during the break. He needs to dress "business casual" and he just looked so handsome and grown up. Makes his mom proud. I love it when I get these glimpses of who he will become. I know, I know, he is legally an adult, he can vote, have a credit card, and even serve and die for his country, but to me...he is still my baby boy.

Brag away,.... it's good! (said one mom to another!) He's a handsome boy and it sounds like he's going to be very successful in life. Obviously you did a great job with him. :D

Ditto to what everyone else said. No such thing as "bragging" too much about the right stuff. :D carold
