How about an updated map, Mitch? Just because you can't come doesn't mean you can't play...er work.

Thanks for the additional questions.

I plan to be there from 7th thru 12th.
Friday night movie sounds like a winner.
Are there any antique shops, flea markets or good thrift stores in the area? I might use some free time to look at them. That excursion could make part of the trip a business expense should I be fortunate enough to show a profit in 2010.

Nan, I'm not known as a cook but I'll contribute a dozen eggs towards your enterprise! I learned that from Lori in PA, she made a very nice buffet also.

Well, we tried and tried to get away from here to join you all, but "The Military Snowbirds cometh!!"..... the last migration south this year...we have at least 2-3 new reservations, coming and going, everyday until the 15th and with the "new gal" in the office, we don't dare ask for a few days off.... :( :( so not this year....didn't say anything earlier cause I didn't want to get your hopes up.......we so wanted to come....but will have to wait til this summer to see ya' all in PA....by the way, if any of you are going to travel I95 or just want to visit Savannah, let me know....there are a couple of nice State Parks close by and Savannah Oaks RV Park is just up the highway....our sites here are booked with active duty and military retirees, so I can't get ya' in here right now....just a thought for those who don't have to get back home anytime soon.... ;) In the mean time, have a great GTG.......Liz always does a good job.... :D

This may not be new to most of you but it is to me. Sounds as if we will need a BIG campfire due to cold weather. Those of you enjoying your oranges, save the peel.
Did you know Dried Orange Peel is a excellent fire starter?
Following are a couple of notes I found on different sites about using orange peel:

Use As Firewood
Believe it or not, orange peel can replace the materials you use for making fire, such as newspaper. Orange oil is flammable, making it a great fire starter. Dry some peel, and use them for your wood stove or fireplace. It’ll remove the creosote that builds up inside your chimney, too.

7. Kindling

The oil in orange peels is flammable. To see for yourself, try squeezing a fresh orange peel in front of a candle. Be careful, because a small burst of fire will be the result. Dried orange peels retain some of this oil, and they will burn longer than twigs, giving a new fire more time to spread. Smells nice too.

8. Fire starter

Because the oil in orange peels is so volatile, I make my own high octane fire starter by squeezing the oil of orange peels onto a bundle of drier lint. When I start a fire out camping with some dried orange peels on top of it for kindling under the larger wood, it always impresses my fellow campers.

Insect repellant
9. As bug repellent. The oils in orange peels are also a natural insect repellent. Puree orange peels and water in a blender, and pour the solution down anthills to kill ants or pour/spray it outside the house to keep ants from coming into your home. Some folks rub a fresh orange peel on their skin and use it as a natural mosquito repellent too.

Learn something every day, what a great idea and bet the burning orange peel even smells good. I am bringing some extra firewood, thinking we will probably need it. Also bringing marshmellows, chocolate and graham crackers for smores. No campfire is complete without them.

Yes, McIntosh & especially Micanopy are noted for antiques (not far from Cross Creek...could be combined). There are 2 flea markets...Market of Marion in Belleview (20 min. south of Ocala) and another near the Interstate in Ocala. Plenty of thrift stores around...don't know about good or not.

Wow...didn't know all that. That's good info, especially here in FL. Will start saving my peels.

Firewood is available at the cg and I plan to stock up when I check in. Yes, bring warm clothes....cold temps are predicted next week. Hopefully it'll warm up by the weekend.

I'll bring some fresh fruit for the Sunday morning buffet. We're getting nice fresh strawberries from Plant City, FL now.
