WARM SATURDAY---not WEDNESDAY!

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

WARM SATURDAY---not WEDNESDAY!

Postby Nasoosie » Sat Dec 26, 2009 7:53 am

GOOD MORNING ALL!

I don't much like it that the temperature is so high here this morning----about 29 above zero, actually. I would like to get snow from this storm that is headed our way, rather than freezing rain and rain, which will make it impossible for me to go shopping today. My truck can make it just about anywhere except down steep hills on an ice-covered road with some rain on it to make it like grease! It's all downhill from here to Plattsburgh, so I would have to make it back UP those hills, too! There is nothing more sickening feeling to a driver than to be in a free slide downhill, even when you are not underway-----4-wheel drive and ABS brakes are as useless as tits on a boar in that situation! The scariest part is the ineptness of other drivers on the road when situations are ripe for skidding. As I see ice all over my truck right now, I suspect I will be spending the day here once again. Perhaps I will leave for the airport early on Monday and shop then, weather permitting.

I hope you all had a fun Christmas Day yesterday, and that none of you were on the plane from Amsterdam landing in Detroit! That will be a Christmas Day for all of those passengers to remember (thankfully!) and talk about for years to come. I worry about my kids flying whenever they are in the air. We have a wonderful explosives-sniffing dog right here in our local airport, who comes out and gives EVERYONE who enters the doors a thorough sniffing-over! Even those not flying. I love to watch her work the crowd! (Of course, the 'crowd' here is only about 15, or so, people.)

I got a beautiful sign that my daughter and her Joe made for me yesterday! I'll take some photos of it later and include it in here somewhere. Now I will have two signs for my trailer! When they heard I had made a sign for myself, they were horror-struck, as they had already finished the present for me! I love that they were able to take the time to make gifts for everyone this year, rather than just buy more 'stuff' which not one of us needs any more of! My plans were to make everyone a DVD, but my burner is kaput, and I haven't found the one I want to replace it with yet. It must have the ability to burn labels and designs right on the discs themselves, as my other one had. I was hoping to find one in the mall today, but-----oh well!

Coffee is hot, and we will all look forward to hearing from you whenever you get yourselves rousted from your comfy beds! I will edit this post when I get the picture of my sign done and into Webshots. Happy Saturday!

Here are the pics:

No flash---better! They designed this with rocks indigenous to the Adirondacks on the top, and rocks found in FL and southern climates on the bottom! Very clever are they!

Good morning everyone! Soos, you caught me off gaurd with the title of your post saying WEDNESDAY, I thought it was friday and heard the trash truck coming down the street
and said, HEY, they are coming a day early, they must have Saturday off, then realized it
really was Saturday! so now of course my dumpster will be full by Wednesday (when
they come again) Now, is anyone else confused?
Since its SATURDAY, that means my weekly trip to pay bills and buy groceries, then of
course do the laundry.
I've ordered a portable heater so I don't have to feed the propane gods every week. Hopefully it will arrive by next weekend. The money I'm feeding to the propane god
for a month will pay for the heater, I'll just have to feed a little more to the electric god. :D
Coffee is good this morning, have added a little half n half just for variety. I do like a
little cream on occassion and I need to use the half n half up before it expires. I bought
it by mistake instead of milk. It does go well in my oatmeal though :P
Have a great day, be safe, and stay warm.

The sun is out, CHRISTMAS IS OVER and I am so happy. Yes I'm one of those who gets really depressed at this time of year. It starts as soon as all the madness begins in late November and goes away like magic on the 26th!
It is 31 here but feels 21 with the wind, the house feels chilly. Winnie is curled up with all her stuffed animals in her toy basket.
I hope you are able to get out Soos. I wish I lived where the weather allowed me to walk down to a local coffee place with a dog and sit outside year round. Of course then I'd have to wish for enough money to live in that type of climate!

Morning everybody. Since I retired I'm often confused about what day it is - that's my story and I'll stick to it. I do remember one time during my work career; we had had a day off in the middle of the week and it really threw me. I'm sitting at home in my jammies, drinking coffee when about 9am my phone rang. It was my boss asking if I was coming to work. I asked him why I should come in on a Saturday and he laughingly informed me it was Friday. Never knew I could get dressed that fast.

Its been in the 20's the last couple of nights so I disconnected my water hose and am running off my tank. Couldn't do that in my house.

Soos, I'm with you about not driving on ice. I've done one of those slides where you have NO CONTROL and it ain't fun. When I travel in the winter I often don't hit the road until after 10 or even later to let the ice melt. I can't think of anything worse than skidding in a 30' RV with a car attached. Yikes!!!

Had a nice Christmas with my daughter and granddaughter - ate too much but it was a relaxed day especially knowing she'll have a new, great job in the New Year.

Anyone do anything special for New Year's? I haven't seen the new year come in for quite some time - am usually asleep well before midnight. What a party girl I am, huh?

Good morning all. Just lost my post into ?? We had a white christmas this year. Had about 5 1/2 ", I know it's not much to you northern gals, but it's a lot here. We also have a layer of ice underneath, which is the real problem. Most of the interstate roads have reopened, but people are still staying put, which is a good thing as the roads are still really slippery.

Let the puppies out yesterday morning and what culture shock! The little ones got hit with the belly high drifts and two ran right back in the house. (No shoveling before coffee) My oldest, my florida baby, doesn't get snow. She can see it, but can't feel it so just stands there trying to figure it out. I cleared a path from the patio to the grass and the puppies made a b-line for the truck camper. The only clear spot on the lawn was under the camper. :D It appears that there will be two kinds of shoveling this time.LOL

I so enjoyed the snow yesterday. My favorite time is right after the storm stops and everything is so white and clean. Enjoy the rest of the holiday weekend. Stay safe traveling. Linda

Good morning! Soos, that sign is really cool! How thoughtful of them!

The snow has pretty much stopped now, just some lingering flurries, and the plows are out again doing one last cleanup. We didn't get the full two feet they predicted but somewhere around 16 inches I think. Still plenty!

I do nothing for New Years Eve, but I get up early on New Years Day to watch the Rose Parade. I love that parade! One of my dreams is to someday volunteer to help decorate one of the floats in flowers. (I love flowers and used to do floral design.) The smells must be absolutely wonderful!

GOOD MORNING SISTAHS!!

Yeah, yeah I know it's not morning any longer. But what the heck! It feels like it's still morning. :D I've finished off my first pot of coffee and I'm thinking about making up another 4cps worth. The first pot was only for 6cps so maybe I'm running low on caffeine? And I had a couple of eggs for breakfast. Shade came out to get hers too, she gets to lick up the egg yolk I leave on the plate. It's quiet here now. Jenny and Connor have went out the door off to where ever. David is at work and Kelly is still in bed. And Shade also went back to bed to curl up with her sissy. So it's just me again all on my own. I love it! :D

Jenny showed me what David found last night when they got home. 2 brown eggs from one of his chickens! Jenny said he was so excited that he could hardly contain himself. I wish I had been able to see the look on his face but I was already in bed. He was probably like a proud papa! His rooster is really working hard on his crowing. It cracks me up as he sound just like a young 'teen boy' going thru puberty. The end of his crow is broken and off key. Do chickens go thru puberty where their voice changes and cracks???

Temps here are in the mid 30's and suppose to get up to mid 40's. Tomorrow is suppose to be about the same but the barometer says it's falling?? Hmmmm, will have to wait and see I guess.

Nothing much planned for the day here. Jenny and David are suppose to go to her Fathers tonight for dinner. Kelly and I are going to Johnson City to visit our friend who use to be our neighbor. She's the one who's yard we camped out in when we first came back to TN. Tomorrow I am gonna hog tie David and get him to check out the wiring/ground for the trailer and see if he can get it figured out. I am so tired of not having my cruise control at night when I turn my head lights on. Kills my knee to keep my foot pressed on the throttle all the time. And danged if I can keep an even and legal speed when my foot is doing the speeding! My foot just wants to go faster than my head tells it to go. My head is law abiding and cautious, not wanting a ticket, but my foot has a mind of is it's own and is a speed demon.

Ok, I'm off to do some reading and surfing. Will check back in on ya'll later. Hope everyone has a grand day and remember to please stay safe.

Love to all

Good Morning..and technically it is still morning here...mid morning.

Yesterday as we were driving to see the movies, DH commented that he had to go to work today. I was like why? He said it was a workday. I said since when is Sat a workday, or was that in the new contract. He was like no today is Thursday..no honey today is Friday.

Several years ago we started going to the movies on Christmas, actually it was something I started, Dh was deployed and it was just the kids and I for Christmas, I opted not to make a big dinner..let the kids pick dinner..they opted for Cheeseburgers. So then that afternoon I took them to the movies. It was fun and we have done that ever since. Granted we have the big dinner, either Christmas Eve/Day depending on the movie times.

I watched Blind Side with DS and DH went with the girls to Alvin and Chipmunks. The older boys were going to see Avatar 3D together, but the 18 year old had a bad headache and opted to stay home and sleep. I think that was a good thing, as we were waiting for Avatar to get out. I was chatting with a young lady, who had been in that movie but had to leave because it was making her sick. I think with his headache it would have been a little too much. He is going to see it next week with a friend of his.

Today is clear and sunny. I think we might take down the outside lights. Although I think I am going to leave the one's up around the dog kennel. It sure has made it nice to take them out there in the dark.
