I'll drop in and bring eggnog. You snuck in here right after midnight tolled and, lo! It's Christmas.

Just returned from my son's house, where we had the traditional holiday wrap blizzard. All the boys have new toys ... including dad (trying to set up his new Blu-Ray player). I had an RV Christmas ... my son gave me a wireless weather station for the RV, and an electronic leveling tool (little lights blink if one side or another is low). I made lasagne for dinner tomorrow -- uh, tonight -- and it's in the fridge ready to pop into the oven. YUM.

Merry Christmas to everyone ... have a blessed day.

Merry Christmas everyone! It's bit of a "Hard Candy Christmas" in South Dakota. We're in the middle of a major blizzard that is suppose to dump 18" or more of snow by tomorrow. There is a drift about a third of the way up the patio door this morning. All interstates are closed in the state and no travel is suggested through the entire state. My mom and my sister came on Tuesday to beat the storm, but now I'm wondering if I should cook a 8# boneless rib roast for the four of us or wait until Sunday and hope the boys can make it in from the farm. Just happy we still have power.

Have a wonderful day!

MERRY, MERRY CHRISTMAS SISTAHS!!!!!

I woke up this morning at 6:23, thought about staying up and then said the heck with it and went back to bed. Got back up at 8:45. Feel better after that extra 2hrs of sleep. Ahhhhhhhh Rain here this morning so I guess I will call it Southern snow! Only a couple of lumps of snow are left out there after all the rain. It totally murdered the snowman that David built to stand guard in front of his chicken coop. At one point it woke me up last night drumming on the roof. Now I'm telling ya it came down.

David and Connor are sitting on the couch, Jenny is in the shower and Kelly is still in bed. As soon as Jenny is done and out of the shower I will wake Kelly and the kids can open their presents. Not sure what time they will be going to her Mom's and stepdads? Kelly and I will be going over to Lynn's house this afternoon for Christmas dinner. We will be taking a pan of scalloped potatoes as our contribution to dinner.

I hope every one is blessed with a loving cheerful Christmas today no matter what your circumstances might be.

Barbz it is so great to see a bright happy Christmas coffee post from you this morning. Sure do miss your kitchen and the good cheer!!!!! Miss ya my friend.

Well gonna pour David some coffee and go get a Conner cuddle before tearing up the living room. If ya are doing any traveling today no matter how close or far please be extra, extra careful today. DPF make sure to keep them home fires burning in that blizzard!!!! And the candles handy.

Much love to all

MERRY CHRISTMAS to all!

So nice to see you this morning, Barbzee---we miss you lots!

South Dakota weather is incredible! Hope you keep your power, and that you have back-up heat, in case you lose power!

The weather fairy painted such a beautiful scene outside in the night----everything is covered with wind-blown rime ice....such a wonderful Christmas scene! Here are some pics of the prettiness. Molly and I wish you all a perfect holiday, wherever you may be!

Have a wonderful day, everyone, and stay safe.

Merry Christmas, good to see so many in the kitchen this morning.
Soos, thank you for the great snow photos.
I spent my first Christmas eve alone. I would say I enjoyed the peace and quite but we had a raging storm come thru here over night. Several hours of sustained wind in excess of 35 mph with gusts over 60 mph and of course torrential rain. Many trees down and some without power this morning. I was among the lucky ones in terms of not loosing power. I did loose the top of a big tree in the back yard; don't know about the front yet or other property. Wind is down to 15-25 mph now and rain mostly gone. Am so grateful I did not have to be out in that mess and that no family was trying to travel in it. Also that it was not ice or snow tho I did so enjoy Soos sharing of her snow.
Nicky has a guest for the holidays. I'm dog sitting for a friend. Will try to post some photos in Pets section this evening. Sister and her family will be here for a little while this afternoon. Need to go get more food cooking for lunch.
Hope all have a fun, safe day and the best of Christmas.

Good morning, Merry Christmas and its great to see a morning post from Barbzeee,
Woke up this morning to the furnace blowing cold air  that meant the propane
bottle was empty :o so I bundled up and waited for daylight to run down the corner
gas station and get a refill. It will be warmed up in here soon, although it took me
a couple tries to get the furnace to kick back on, I had to get the propane to come
out the stove first to clear the air out of the line, then it fired up just fine.
Just watching the local morning news and wondering what special thing I'll decide to
do today. Started on the livingroom shelf yesterday, just might get that finished.
Enjoy your holiday, eat and be merry :D

After all the kids and grandkids here on the 23rd ...it's a peaceful morning here on the hill. We've enjoyed our stockings and then pancakes and bacon for breakfast, and then our gifts from under the tree. Whoooeeee.... even the cats and dogs got presents! Right now we're watching "Smokey Mountain Christmas" with Dolly Parton on the Hallmark channel. Later this afternoon we'll visit grandchildren and see all of their excitement over their gifts.

Here's my village that my youngest grandson set up for me ...

Soos those were simply beautiful pictures!!! I love the screen door one, that is super neat.

As horrible and dangerous as winter weather can be there is so much perfection and beauty to be found in the simplicity of snow and ice.

We had a nice Christmas Eve last night at my brother's. The heavy snow held off until around midnight so that was good for travelers. We got another 6 or so inches of snow overnight and then sleet and rain mixed with snow this morning. Now back to snow as the temp drops back down below freezing.

I gave my cat, Zoey, her gift this morning, a catnip mouse, which she went bonkers over! So fun to watch! Then I took the ferrets out and gave Moxy his gift. I helped him unwrap it but he definately knew there was something good inside and was very excited. Once he got to the bag of little yellow rubber duckies, he was so excited and started grabbing them one at a time and running off the hide them. There were actually 13 ducks in the package, and by the time he got to about the 8th one, he was so overwhelmed that he just ran off to take a break for awhile. I took lots of photos and will post them later on the Pets page. Buster didn't get a gift since he doesn't really like toys or treats. I am his favorite play toy  so I will spend lots of time today playing hide and seek with him, which is his favorite game.

Nothing else planned for the rest of the day or weekend, other than reading, naps, and e-mailing. I will make chili later on to get me thru the weekend. My mom's recipe...so yummy! I got some flavored Cappuccino last night so might also make some of that with some Baileys mixed in. Probably a good day to put a fire in the fireplace as well!

Barbie
Barbie, Romeow, and Sophie, missing Lola! (and lots of ferrets running around in my heart!)
