Its Saturday, coffees on!

Good morning
Finally a routine Saturday for me, get to go pay the bills, buy the groceries and
get what I need in terms of propane and electricity to last me until the next
payday. Its a tad cloudy out but I've already hung some sheets to dry and am
hoping they dry out before it starts to rain. Gotta wait for the FedX man to
deliver my package before I go off galavantin to the store and such.
Coffee is fresh and hot and a little toast on the side hits the spot!

Good Morning all, I'm already tired of winter. I have either the worst case of dry skin ever or an allergic reaction. Can't decide if my skin itches or burns but it looks almost like I have a measles rash. It is better this morning but after my shower yesterday I looked l real a mess! So...hoping it is going away. I thought it could be an allergic thing as when we took the little dogs in for teeth cleaning one had an accident and they washed him in something that smelled pretty strong. It was the next day that I started with the rash and itching. So, I'm sitting here on a cloudy day thinking of whether going to my yoga class would take my mind off the whole thing or just sit and slather on more gooey moisturizer.
We had a lovely evening last night with a group of people I went to school with. Every month we meet and have dinner at a different restaurant. It's a nice way to keep in touch and have a pleasant night out.
My new keyboard and I still need a lot of practice! I like the touch but the keys are closer together and I keep hitting the wrong ones or the caps lock instead of the shift. Old habits are hard to break.

Looking iffy for my area that the "ice storm" will transpire. It kinda broke up as it headed north near Salem. They still have alerts going on as there is the potential for some areas to get freezing rain and the road crews worked all day yesterday putting down de-icer. All the transit buses are chained up and the MAX Rail turned on their rail heaters so I guess we are prepared! Certainly won't break my heart if we all get only rain.

I did my grocery shopping yesterday so I have no need to leave the house. Just hope that if we do get freezing rain it doesn't down any trees/tree limbs that knock out power. I have no way to heat my house if that happens, nor can I cook. If my MH was parked here instead at the storage unit I cold count on her big-time. But that's not the case.

I'm looking forward to our warm up coming later in the week. They are saying in the 50s! Yippee! My poor little dog is really missing our walks. With the temps in the single digits we haven't been venturing out much. Just a quick walk to the mailbox and back.

Hope you finally get your pkg. delivered, Ava. It sure has been traveling around!

Next Friday is my two youngest GDs school Christmas program. I'm looking forward to that and glad for the warmer weather as the whole town is built on the side of a small mountain and any ice makes for some hair-raising driving!!

GOOD MORNING SISTAHS!!!

Chilly here but not to bad. Last night before I went to bed I checked the temp via the weather page for the local area and the temp was 18f. Brrr It sure felt it too. Right now it cant' make up it's mind if it's 23f or 26f. LOL They are calling for lots of rain tonight maybe mixed with snow? YUCK! I've been wrapping David's chicken coop with cardboard to cut down on drafts but haven't picked up any plastic sheeting yet. HA! I found a roll of plastic sheeting in a basket in the room we are using, so now I don't have to buy any. I remember that roll of plastic from back in April they were gonna use it for the windows. But now it will be used for the chickens. Oh well, they had their chance to use it and now it's mine. Still need some old insulation or something to plug up the eaves under the roof to knock out the draft. But between the drop light, cardboard and now the plastic the chickens are a long way ahead of where they were!!!

It's also very quiet here. Only sounds are the fridge running, the wood stove crackling and me tapping on the keyboard. Kelly is sleeping of course, if it wasn't for knowing better I would say she's a vampire! But I know she has no fangs!! Just a night owl which she has been since she was a whole lot younger. Stay up all night and sleep all day. David is at work and Jenny went out the door over an hour ago. So I have the whole house to myself at the moment. I love it when it's like this.

My pot of coffee is almost gone but think I will make up just a little bit more so as to have some to share with ya'll. Sorry but no breakfast here this morning unless ya can make do with toast, peanut butter and jelly. Not even any oatmeal as Jenny's friend finished off the milk last night. ~sigh~

Ok I am off to read the postings and catch up with everyone and also have the dishes soaking in hot water. As soon as it cools enough to stick my hands in there I will get them started. Need to drag out the sewing machine too. I have finally got Conner's fleece quilt together and ready to sew! Yay!!!! Hope everyone stays warm, cool or comfortable and please remember to stay safe!!!

Good Morning all!

Echo....be sure you leave some ventilation under the eaves of that chicken coop, as chicken poop produces a lot of methane gass that needs to have an escape route. A too-tight chicken coop is not a good thing!

In the middle of laundry now, then will vacuum for company coming to play some cribbage this afternoon.

I have the MH18B model. They are totally safe because if they don't have oxygen they will shut off. I keep my sliding window behind where i put it cracked open. Not enough to feel cold air but apparently just enough to supply the oxygen. I keep one on each end of my house.

Also, for cooking I have a two burner camp stove that I put on top of my kitchen range.

both the heaters and the camp stove run on the small one lb. propane tanks. I have my Honda 2000 watt generator (that I use with my camper when boondocking) for electricity for lights, computer, tv, etc.

For a little investment of maybe $200 total I have heat and cooking capability. Of course my gen was more costly, as I remember I paid $989 two seasons ago.

My son just called from Portland and said whatever was supposed to transpire as a storm there didn't. He works for Fred Meyer and said they were sold out of every single loaf of white bread and most of the wheat bread. Can't blame people, though, considering the horrible weather up there this time last year.
