Thinking about Thursday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Thinking about Thursday

Postby Liz » Thu Dec 10, 2009 9:17 am

Temps are dropping here in central FL as the front moves through. 80's of yesterday will become 60's today. But it will be short-lived. Kathleen can look forward to 70's next week when she gets here. Hope she's able to make progress with the winds and rain she's had to put up with. I'll call her again later today, if I don't hear from her first.

Soos is taking a "snick" day, after all the snow received and predicted. The schools aren't closed so she created her own snow day by using a sick day.

I keep putting on pounds while living so close to my kitchen, so I made myself walk on the treadmill while listening to Obama's acceptance speech for the Peace Prize this morning. He sure was long-winded, and I was getting short-winded by the time he finished.

Hope everyone has a safe day. Do something fun!

Good Morning All - our warm weather here in MX has turned a lot cooler too - going to need a sweat shirt this a.m.
Thought I'd share this sunset with you - they sure are pretty here.

Here's what it's like out there on my 'snick' day! (Thanks, Liz----love that term!)

It's been doing this since about 5:00 am, and the winds just keep getting worse and worse!

I took the day off as the winds and snow here are horrendous, and I want to make sure we don't lose power as I will then lose heat if I'm not here to run generator or feed wood fire. I am taking a snow/sick day, hence, "snick" as Liz coined the term!

Just clck the picture to watch the video.

I edited this once again...much better quality video with this link!

Worked great - you live in a truly beautiful place and I'm in awe of how self-sufficient you are.

Good morning
BRRRRRRRRR, I'm a popsicle! Ran out of propane last night, it was only past 11 and
I froze the rest of the night. Could see my breath in here this morning and I had to
start the car and warm it up just to get warm myself. There was frost on my windows!
Called into work and told them I'd be late. Ran down to get the propane filled and the
furnace hasn't shut off yet, its been running a hour and a half so far to get this place
warmed back up. Then I'm waiting for the fed ex guy to deliver a package, he was
here two days in a row but he didn't put any sticker on my door, he put it on the fence!
I didn't notice it until last evening. His route brings him through here around 9 so hopefully
he will get here before I have to leave for work at 930.
Have already had too much coffee, and it doesn't stay hot in here anyway so I'll just have
a little toast and read up on posts.
Enjoy your day Soos, and everyone else too, of course, and be safe.

Soos.... here in the valley sun is shining brightly and we have barely a breeze. I'm sure the wind will pick up eventually but I guess the worst of it will go north of here.

Ava.... don't you have a large propane tank? Are you carrying a regular rv tank to a propane fill place? Can you get a residential sized tank and maybe filled on a schedule so you won't run out in the night again?

Good day here,.... hope everyone else is having a good day, too!

So glad you had time to make that video, Soos. It was beautiful to watch. It's very Christmasy with the tree, lights and falling snow. Still, I think I'd rather BE where Carol is watching that gorgeous sunset. :D

That's a beautiful view Soos but glad I'm not there. No one would see me until Spring. It was suppose to get to 35 last night but don't think it got below 40.

My younger son is flying in tonight from Seattle. I haven't seen him since September 2007 when I drove up to Seattle. When my boys come in all they want to do is fill up on cajun food. I am already fighting a 4 lb weight gain this week( we won't talk about the other 70). I can usually maintain if I don't eat out but a couple of meals out and I'm in trouble.

Soos, I loved the video, but like others, so glad I'm not there. Here in San Diego, there's a little respite from the rain, but it's supposed to show up again tomorrow. I got everything done yesterday, including a trip over the border for my tourist card.

Piece of toast with peanut butter and jelly for breakfast, along with some orange juice, then outside to put up my mom's Christmas lights. She was so happy to replace a hedge around her yard in the mobile home park with a picket fence a few years ago because she can string lights around it. Well, so I can string the lights.  Sure looks nice at night, though.

Off to face the shopping crowds in a bit to find a Spanish/English dictionary. I had one from high schhool that disappeared when I downsized for the RV. Of course, high school was a long time ago, too. Mom and I will probably go to either Olive Garden or Anthony's Fish Grotto for a late lunch/early dinner today - two birthdays and Christmas to celebrate at the same time.

Something kind of funny the other day. When I took the RV in for new tires, they had me drive it into their service bay - piece of cake. When I'd paid for them, one ofthe guys inside asked if I needed help backing it out. I grinned, thanked him, and told him he could watch. Loved it.

Stay warm, all of you in the frozen areas.

HELLO SISTAHS!!

Brrrr it's cold here too. Temp is about 34f, the wind is blowing and it cut right thru. BRRRRRRR Liz those 60's for today are more to my liking!! Altho the snow storm that Soos videoed is beautiful too. Love snow but not all the time.

Wasn't even sure if I wanted to get up out of bed to face the day this morning? But I had to no matter how I felt about it. Had to do my morning thing and so did Shade. My mood is better today so that's a big help. ;) David is off to work, Jenny is off somewhere and Kelly ran to town to pick up a few things. So it's just me and Shade at home. Ahhhhhh so nice and quiet! Jenny is very, very happy today, she had class last night with an important test. She checked her test score online this morning and saw that she had passed with a good grade. She was sweating it as this is the second time she has taken the class and if she hadn't passed this test she would have had to wait more than a year to take it again. So she would have been at a dead stop trying to get her nursing license. Have no idea which class it is but she said it's been a bugger and she's had a hard time with it.

I'm gonna go out later and see what I can do about buttoning up David's little chicken coop out back. Make it a little less drafty and a little warmer for the chickens. Was gonna get some plastic sheeting but forgot the dang stuff. David needs to pick up some plywood to make better nesting boxes and to make a higher front lip so the chickens don't fling the hay out so much.

Not sure yet? But Kelly and I might run over to Johnson City where we use to live and do some visiting this evening. Be nice to touch base and visit with a couple of friends. Really looking forward to the day that we have our own rig so that we can work camp in areas where we have friends and family.

Yuck! Just got done with a bowl of Frosted Flakes and took a swig of my black coffee. ???? The taste of Frosted Flakes, milk and black coffee do NOT blend well together!!! Ewwwwww

Ok time to do some reading. Hope everyone stays warm and safe!!!!!

Love to all

It was about 10 degrees the AM when I let the dogs out. Talk about a quick "business" run this morning. It was fun watching when the temperature finally hit and they all ran back in. For a moment I thought I was going to go swimming this AM. My oldest was nearly thrown over by the stampede of little ones. She wobbled towards the pool and just caught her balance about 6" from the edge of the pool. The thought of what could have happened sent shivers down my spine.

Soos, I have to say, the snow looks great and glad you will be able to enjoy your "snick" day. I enjoy snow as long as I don't have to be anywhere at the time, otherwise I just like to look at it. :D Hope you and Molly get some skiing in the afternoon.

Carol, the sunset is just beautiful. I see you are still suffering.

Take care all, especially if you have to be out in the weather. Linda

5* on my thermometer this AM. We broke a bunch of record lows, some 30 yrs old. Just way too cold!
Soos, loved the video but wish you would have spoke in it. Would have been nice to hear your voice.
I passed on an 8AM coffee club meeting this morning. Just wasn't up to showering and getting dressed that early. My poor little dog keeps begging to go for a walk but he'll have to settle with roaming the backyard for the next few days until it warms up. The forecast is saying freezing rain possible on Sun and then 50 on Mon or Tues. Crazy weather, for sure!
Enjoying Carol's sunset pics/MX pics as usual and look forward to the adventures of the Tres Baja Amigos!
