WEDNESDAY AND WAITING FOR SNOW DAY

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

WEDNESDAY AND WAITING FOR SNOW DAY

Postby Nasoosie » Wed Dec 09, 2009 5:26 am

GOOD MORNING TO ALL OF US!

Lots of VT schools closing, but NOT one in NY as of yet! C'mon, NY----get with it! Actually the snow that's coming down right now is so fine and un-heavy that you really have to look to see it in the dark! But the forecast for sleet, freezing rain and heavy winds should make the schools take notice. (I hope!) Radar looks very iffy. I just hope they make up their minds before we have to get onto the roads and get trapped at school. With heavy winds forecast, I worry about power outages and no heat here if I have to go to school. I will need to feed my wood stove.

It was good to get some news about Kathleen this morning----we were worried about her as nobody had heard anything for a couple of days. Although she's having heater problems, and it's cold where she is in Atlanta, she is hunkered down against the rain and waiting the storm out, apparently. Put on your heavy clothes, Kath, and cover up with a quilt, or two! Let us know how you are when you are able to write.

I suppose, as there's no news about our school yet, I should get dressed and be ready. Sure hate to cover up my bed just yet, as I would LOVE to lay back and watch morning TV with my hot coffee! My woodfire feels good, and the coffee is hot, so stop by and tell us about your area and what's going on! I think Janice has more snow than we have so far!

Chant with me----"SNOW DAY----SNOW DAY-----SNOW DAY!!!"
Life is about learning to dance in the rain
Happy travels!

I hope you get your snow day! We always told our students to wear their pajamas inside out and do the snow dance. Hope it works. Good morning to all. Hope all is well.

well good morning there
dogs got me up half hour early so I said what the hey, I'm awake, might as well get up.
Its cold but not like other places in the country. Hope you get your snow Soos, and if
you do, you can keep it, I'm so done with snow, and I'm done with rain too! However,
the weatherman says I can expect rain again on Friday and Saturday, when I'm trying
to get my space cleaned back up
Think I have a propane bottle leaking, I filled it on Saturday but when I got home
yesterday the furnace was blowing cold air, opened up the propane cabinet and could
smell it. Put the other tank on which has only about a third of propane in it and hope
it lasts me till friday. Sometimes they seem to last a long time and sometimes not.
Think I will "decorate" that one tank so I can tell the two apart and start paying attention
to the both of them. I just hate when the propane I pay for goes up in oblivian.
Coffee is good, however I've had enough or I'll be suffering when I'm picking up kids
this morning. It will feel like a very long way to school!
A few cookies to fill the empty pit in my stomach and I'm good to go.
Have a great day and I hope ya all get the weather you need or want. One more
thing.......above all, be safe!

Good Morning...Soos doesn't it make you mad when the school gets everyone there and then decides to call off? When I was teaching in a town 20 miles away more than once I made it to school only to walk in the door and have the custodian tell me that they called off and were turning the buses that were already out on the route around! Needless to say I had a few choice words! We're having foul weather right now I've already called into the work and told them to hold my workers until called...which will us give time to figure out what to do. The driveway in front of the garage has a good size drift across it that is beyond shoveling and my husband is working on city streets so I'm a like the shoemaker's kids right now...I'll be the last to get cleaned out! The guy who I carpool with is out in the country and he wants to wait until daylight because it's so cold ( -23* wind chill factor) and doesn't want to take a chance of getting stuck because he'll have his daughter with him. His better half had to stay at the hospital last night because she was on call. School is starting two hours late at this point and they still might call off. $%#@ I hate winter.
My mind works like lightning...one brilliant flash and it's gone.

Good morning ladies!

Storms are happening in a lot of places today. We're expecting a line of thunderstorms today....the same line that was hitting Kathleen (dayspring39) last night in the Atlanta area. The 80 degree weather we had yesterday will drop again when it goes through, but 70's are expected for the weekend, so Kath will be happy about that. I think she said she will not have internet service until after she gets set up here. If I don't hear from her in a couple of days, I'll check on her again by phone.

Today is laundry day for me, clothes and bedding. I need to make a small grocery run and get stamps to mail a few Christmas cards too. I guess I'll do that first before the thunderstorms hit.

Stay safe and warm today.

It is warmer today than the last two...but very windy...limbs have come down on the fencing but the fences are still up and no escape holes as of yet...... Did most of the doggy visiting yesterday but need to make a trip to the store and get some laundry started....print off some pictures for Christmas cards....and bunches of reading under a blankie with warm doggy heaters snuggled around.....Bring on the hot tea! Seems that the older I get the more the cold effects me....Also knowing that there is a solution (Head South!!!!) and I am not taking advantage of it may play with my mind some...... I keep looking at the netbooks and thinking that Santa knows how good I've been...but then I remember that Santa was saving that money for MH gas.....choices, choices.... :D Stay warm and safe where ever the day takes you.

Good morning.
Soos - I'm doing the "snow days" jig for you. Hope it works.
We had high winds and heavy rain all day yesterday and last night. Many roads closed this morning due to flooding. When I went to bed around 1:00 AM, water was running into my garage; washer and dryer are standing in about an inch of water. We were even under a tornado watch; very rare for early Dec. The rain has stopped but it is still windy. Temps are to be falling during the day with a hard freeze tonight. Winter is not my favorite time of year.
Weather was so bad yesterday, I did not even venture out to get my mail. Had lots of more constructive things in need of attention but got a wild hair and put up a Christmas tree. Wasn't going to go to that trouble this year but then decided I really do enjoy the lights on tree especially when coming home at night. My tree sits in a small bay window over the driveway. Very pretty there.
I do hope Carolinagal (Carol) made it on into FL ahead of this storm.
Stay safe and warm where ever you are today.

On the road again today. Unhook the RV, hookup the pickup to towbar, say goodbyes, return videos, buy gas, drive to campground in Brawley, unhook the pickup, connect RV to electricity, lock it up, drive pickup to Calexico and walk across border to Mexicali for tourist card, walk back across, drive pickup up over the mountains and down to my mom's in Lakeside, CA, stash stuff in her storage shed, take advantage of close Wal-mart and and stock up on necessities, refill prescriptions, take my mom out to dinner somewhere, and watch Jeopardy with her. Hope it isn't too windy going through those mountains, but at least I won't be driving the taller RV.

Just think: I could still be sweating it out at Amazon.com in Coffeyville, Kansas, where this is today's weather forecast:

# Today: A few flurries possible early. A mix of clouds and sun with gusty winds. High 21F. Winds NW at 25 to 35 mph.
# Tonight: Mainly clear skies. Cold. Low 12F. Winds WNW at 5 to 10 mph.

Just a little too cold for me. I kind of admire those of you who stick it out through those kinds of frigid temperatures, though.

Stay warm.

Beth and I take our rigs to yet another repair shop. She is having generater problems, and I need a new lock on my door. It falls apart in my hands and is a bugger to fit together again. I'm also going to get a latch put on the outside so I can keep my door open when I'm on the sunny beaches in Mexico. Then its on to Jenny's!

Oh Soos! I hope you got to stay home where it's warm and cozy. On Monday, lots of snow at home in CA, I was very thankful (here in TX) not to be heading out to work in that heavy storm. Too many mornings of putting on chains in the dark.

On the other hand....it's bright and sunny here, but also cold, 33* and windy. I might wait til after lunch for my long walk.
Been doing 1 to 1 1/2 hours everyday. It gets addictive. I go exploring in different neighborhoods or to a local park or along the lake downtown. Austin is a fantastic city for walking. As probably are many others that I have never visited! :)

Wow those colors! do I sense a bit of excitement in your post Chris?

Today is my DGD's 3rd birthday day!!!!! She is so much fun. They have lots of bamboo around their place so I play a game with P about looking for panda bears in the jungle. When we went to the nursery for a tree, she said she was going to find a panda bear. Too cute and DD very confused as she didn't know the game.

This seems like a good day to cook a pot of lentils. They've been in my kitchen for a couple weeks. That will be fun to do while I finish sewing project. Have a great day!!!!

NOPE! No snow day for me! Here I am at school, with the wind blowing like crazy, and the snow blowing, too. We won't go home....never have once we get here, as then parents have to leave work and make arrangements for their kids to have supervision or take the day off themselves.

Oh well.....almost lunchtime now.

I hope the weather in other parts of the country is better than here today! HOWEVER------it is BEAUTIFUL!!!!!
