GOOD TUESDAY MORNING TO ALL
It's about 24 degrees here, no wind, and we have about 3 inches of snow on the ground at last. I am so hoping it stays around now for the winter. I can then get my skis out and ready to roll, or slide, as it were. I know that large storm in the central part of the country is headed our way for tomorrow. A snow day off from school would be fun!
I'm not sure if I mentioned that the bull moose that had been hanging around here for this season was killed by a car the other day, or not......but it wandered out onto Route 3 and smashed into a car, overturned it, pretty much totalled the car, and definitely totalled itself. The car occupants made it through safely, thanks to seat belts. Everybody recognized him from his unique set of antlers which had a weird twist to them. This was the 4th moose to meet its demise in this area of about 2 miles of Route 3 in the past 4 years. Moose seem to have a definite circuit of travels, and, unfortunately for both them and people in cars, this particular circuit leads across the highway. There should still be a cow moose and calf around the property, but I haven't seen any tracks in a while now. Molly and I walk each day after I get home from school, and have seen only deer and rabbit and coyote tracks lately.
We made another 10 wreaths yesterday at school, and have pretty much now satisfied our orders for this year. Now it's time to make ourselves some to bring home. Then we begin to make birch bark signs to meet the orders of others for those items. I've never made those yet, so it should be interesting to learn what that entails.
I hope all of you on the road are safe and sound. We missed hearing from Kathleen last night in the chatroom, or yesterday on the post boards. I assume she just didn't have internet access, I am hoping. I hope we get some word from her today. Anyone else out there, keep your eyes on that storm heading east and northward.
Coffee is hot, wood fire is blazing, so stop in and tell us about your day.
