Just don't buy a DELL,,,, the word on them is that they are CRAP and will crash on you before they even get HOT!

Buy HP if you can possibly afford it,, so my "expert" (daughter) tells me.

I will buy a laptop when I can,,, later than sooner.. probably!

keep talking...............................

Doubt it - I've had 2 HPs over the years and will NEVER have another - junk is right! They should have stuck with printers!

 Differing opinions for sure!

I've had IBM Thinkpads that I bought off e-bay and really liked them. My first ever laptop was an IBM. That thing sure did take some knocks and kept on working. I've had a couple of Toshibas and really liked them. Last Toshiba I had I bought used. Kelly had put it up on the top bunk in the big truck so that she could get to the storage under my bottom bunk. Well it bounced off the top bunk and hit the floor. When it did the lid flew open and hit the shifter stick and broke the screen. Had only had it for about 2 weeks. Couldn't go right back out to get another laptop so went back to using the old IBM. Kelly and her X sent me the money to replace the Toshiba. I did a lot of shopping around and reading on the net about different laptops. Ended up buying an Acer. I love that laptop. When I told Kelly what I had bought she was really skeptical as it wasn't a well known brand at that time. She checked it out and had her X look them over. Her X was a computer freak who went to work for Amazon as his first job writing code for the billing dept. He told Kelly that it was one heck of a good laptop for the money. He ended up buying her one like mine only with a few more bells and whistles. The one we are using right now is Kelly's but it's a newer one because her first one was stolen right off her dining room table. Working out to the Lodge a lot of the employees out there had Acers. And the amount of guests that had Acers was something else. If I hadn't been able to buy my Acer I probably would have went back to a Toshiba. My David also bought an Acer and liked how easy it was to use. He ended up giving his keyboard a shower by dropping his cup of water so he is stuck using his wife's IMAC. But Acer has this family as fans!!! For what ya get and ease of use I will take this Acer any day of the week.

Dell and HP? Nope, no thank you very much. Worked with both of them and was always having problems with them. So I don't want one of them.

Funny how it's "each to their own".

To take this back to my original complaint, my Dell laptop is now fixed and back to normal. Only had to take out one screw and the CD/DVDplayer slid right out. Discovered a little thing had come off its track, so used a small screwdriver to push it back in. Stuck the entire thing back into the computer, put the screw back in and it now works fine again. Oh, I did have help.
