THOR'S DAY LIVING UP TO ITS NAMESAKE

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

THOR'S DAY LIVING UP TO ITS NAMESAKE

Postby Nasoosie » Thu Dec 03, 2009 5:14 am

GOOD MORNING ALL!!

It's a balmy 48 degrees here this morning! That's extremely weird and very un-good for an area that depends on snow for its income in the winters. Our cross-country ski team at school has become nothing more than a running team at this point. It's very sad!

Cedar, it sounds as if your granddaughter is right back into the basketball stuff, as are you! Sure do hope you're feeling better now. I guess you gave Kath your cold in the chatroom the other night!

My classroom teacher will be out today, working on all those IEPs for our 13 students, so we'll have a sub who will work with us to try to get another 10, or more, wreaths made and trimmed. Tomorrow there will be no school for students, but we teachers have an all-day presentation of some sort for a Superintendent's Day.

My old kitty is really winding up his life at this point. I was hoping he might make it until Christmas, but I have my doubts. It's getting harder and harder for him to get around now, like a very old man he is moving. I may take him for his final shot this weekend. It will kill me to have to do it, but there is no need for an old cat to suffer the kind of death we sometimes have to allow our old humans to endure. I will know when it's time. Some aspects of owning four-footers never get easier.

That band of dangerous weather that crossed FL last night has passed from the Orlando area now, Sso my son who is that area must be ok, hopefully, or I would have heard something from him. The tornado watch has now been lifted. Hope Liz fared well down there, too, and everybody else.

Our forecast for today is for possible thunderstorms! December thunderstorms is just NOT a normal weather pattern for us!

Coffee is hot and good, so pull up a chair and tell us about your day. I'm off to make another pot, get dressed, and head out into the morning weather, whatever if may be. We had heavy winds and rain all night long, but I think more of the same is coming.
Life is about learning to dance in the rain
Happy travels!

Morning, all..........Yep, nasty weather here yesterday afternoon and evening....Tornado warning had us and our campers running for the bathouse...everyone including the fur-babies.... Interesting while there with the pups....a couple of barks and that was it....like with 2 legged kids, they knew this was serious...but after 15-20 minutes we got the "all clear" from the loud-speaker...then it really rained, hard.... :o Still dark right now, so will check the damage of it all when it gets light.....Spinner sure doesn't like the loud-speaker....poor baby.....

Okay, Ernie wants pancakes for breakfast....will make enough to share here....Buckwheat pancakes and bacon...yummmmmmmmmm....

Have a nice day, all.......................

It's 3AM here in the chilly PNW. It was 28 yesterday AM, not sure what it is now but I do know that by this weekend we'll have low 30s for our highs, possibly a snowflake or two, but highly doubt is as this system is too dry coming down from Alaska. Freezing nights mean clear sunny days, albeit cold. I have been taking some nice walks with my dog and letting him run unleashed in the wetlands, which he loves!

Not a thing planned for today. Yesterday I worked out at Curves and noticed the low tire pressure light was lit up on the dash of the car so I took it to get air and also washed. Then tried out a new hair salon in town offering $8 haircuts. A gal I bowl with got hers done there and it looked really nice and I'm tired of paying through the nose for a haircut I generally don't like anyway, so I figured they couldn't do any worse. Turns our they gave me the Sr discount so it cost $6 and I love the cut! Go figure! LOL The gal that did my hair said they opened the salon to offer cuts that people can afford, especially in these hard economic times. Good for them! I don't think they offer perms or color, just cuts.

My DD/SIL/GDs are using my car this weekend as Alaska Air ( my DD/SIL's employer), is having their Christmas party in Seattle and they needed a vehicle that held more than 5 people as my GDs are each taking a friend.

Soos, so sorry about Twitch. You've given him an excellent life there at your wooded homestead, and because you love him, you'll make the right decision when the time comes. Praying for courage for you.

Ok, need to refill my coffee.
Hope all are well and keeping safe from the stormy weather.

Good morning, all. The storm passed over us here in Sarasota around midnight. Tornado warnings for the area, but have read nothing about one landing, thank goodness. Need to finish Christmas shopping for the small stocking presents and then wrapping what I have. Ordered some online, but they haven't arrived yet. We're leaving here with the MH around the 22nd to NC. Kids just put in 50 amps outside their house, so we can park there with electricity. Then heading to Atlanta to spend New Year's Eve with friends and back to Sarasota to take MIL to doctor visits. Have a bar mitzvah for the 8th and 9th and then to the east coast for meet my sister who is flying in from AZ to spend time with our 92 year old aunt for a week. That was unexpected, as I was hoping to get to the GTG for a few days. Hope I can squeeze in at least one day.

Soos, wish our district had allowed time off for doing IEPs. The only time I could take was for testing. Had to develop the IEPs either before or after kids or at home. Heard after I retired that they were considering only rewriting them at 3 year reviews unless something changed drastically.

That's the morning report on the west coast of FL. carold

Good morning ladies. Yes, the rain has passed, and that's all it was here. More rain is expected however, but no severe weather, I don't think. I was able to drive to church last evening (about 30 miles away), but checked the weather radar before starting out.

Soos, I'm so sorry about Twitch. It's hard to say goodbye to a long-time fur friend, but they seem to know...and let you know...when it's time. At least that's the way it was with my 18+ yr. old cat Rocky at the end of his life. I'll be thinking about you.

Have a safe day, everybody.

A grey misty wet November day in Ohio...not a surprise. Was a good day for a mammogram. Now thats out of the way for awhile. Will be thinking of you Soos because I know that Twitch will be alright with your decision. Our buddies get released from their pain that they don't understand and have no great philosophical thoughts about. Life is the present for them. It is is us, their companions, that continue to ache for them and miss their presence in our lives.

Lori, I love the new picture of your family! Two handsome men there... :D

Yesterday was spa day for dogs around here. Heads and ears got trimmed up, nails got clipped and dremeled away and some teeth got scaled. It alwayss amazes me that they tolerate my fingers and sharp dental instruments in their mouths with less fuzz than the dreaded nail clippers :o I think the bamboo under the nails torturers must have had it right. Today I am needing to print out some pictures in response to some requests. The wife of one of Herschel and Remi's friends at the nursing home told me that her children had made off with the pictures of her husband with the Remi and she would like one to keep for herself. And there are the copies of pictures from an August birthday party that still haven't been made. The excuse of not having enough colored ink disappeared two months ago...procrastination....yes.

Off to grab a cup of tea from the kitchen and see if I can be productive. You guys still "working hard" for your money make me feel just a little guilty sometimes. Still working on who I want to be and what I want to do when I grow up. :D

Good Morning Sistahs!!

Yucky weather here today too all gray and over cast. Only 44f and the high is suppose to be 46f. Yesterday it rained off and on all day so everything outside is wet and mucky. Walked across the lawn yesterday and sounded like I was walking in a bog. Every step was squish then a slurp/suck when ya picked your foot up. I think I feel mold growing!!!

I had totally lost track of the days here. Thought today was Wednesday was surprised to finally realize that it was actually Thursday! Sheesh!!! Got some house work done yesterday along with dishes and laundry. Today I am gonna get after the living room, get it all straightened up and clean up really good around the wood stove. Gonna have to nag David to get some new stove pipe. The pipe on the stove now, leaks smoke when ya open the vents up a little.

Have almost finished up my pot of coffee but not gonna do breakfast here today. My tummy is upset and I really don't feel like eating anything right now. Will wait until later and hopefully that will change.

Hope ya'll have a good day and if not? Do the best ya can.

Love to all

It is chilly and the roads are icy this am.
took dd and the other 2 girls to the bus stop this am...
Then it is another crazy day...what is it about Tue-Thur thing...
Kodie has OT/PT
Then we have homeschool co-op classes ( i least I can sit back and chill there)
Then DS has baseball training/batting cages
DD has math tutoring
Then she has dress rehearsal for the play tonight.

We have another DX for Kodie. This one was to look at her growth hormone. The test takes 2 hours, we had it done on the 11th of Nov. Finally got a call back with the results. She is not producing the normal levels of growth hormone. This is actually good news in a way..in that it does answer why her growth has slowed so dramatically when she at the age that most girls are having the largest growth. What many people do not realize is GH is more then just about height. This also answers her weak muscle tone issue and her dental issues. She has very soft teeth and it prone to cavities, and also lost her baby teeth much later. In fact at 11 she still has 2 of her baby teeth, by this time most kids have lost all those.

Sorry to hear about sweet kitty. It is hard. We lost our old cat this past Sept. He had been with us for 14 years. Longer then 2 of the kids.

Well, we survived it in Wildwood too...cause I want ya all to know.. I stayed awake till 4am...how could I not, that weather alarm kept going off...ooooooooh that's such a comfort feeling... and boy the rains did come down with lots of branches and loud bangs....aaaaaah music for the soul.....Yeah..not my kind of music...

Soos, sorry to read about Twitch... It never does get easy..no matter what beautiful poems are written...and yes, you'll know...like we've been down that path before.. I pray that you'll find that inner peace...and Twitch will cross that bridge.. I have a lump in my throat even writing it... but ya know Soos, all of us feel that pain.. and pray for you and Twitch..

Lori and Ernie... I was in the bathroom too... but not with company..only with my four footers and then I thought wait...this is a double wide..what inside wall..hahahaha..ooooooh yeah... after me roof gets put on... Oh I didn't tell ya all.. I have been dealing with patching leaks...cept ain't no more patching.it's now or never...new roof being put on in a couple of weeks... there goes my to do list...and tornado room..geeeez... Santa is getting thinner and thinner...pretty soon I'm gonna have to give him a care package.. or mouth to mouth... cause that sucker is gonna fade out on me... ..LOL

Oh, and I'm just about finished my Afghan..yep did so much last night my fingers were going without me even thinking about it... Nervous reaction..every time the alarm went off I put on another 4 rows....keep this up and I'll be in mass production.. pictures will follow next week as it will be done and so will I...

Ok... need to make another pot of coffee as I have a few people coming over to give me some good sound advise on how to spend my money ...for their benefit....

God Bless All and have a Safe Journey...

Good afternoon gal pals! Yep, it's way past morning. Even past lunch, but Handyman Bob is here putting the finishing touches on some tile repair for me, so no lunch for now. This evening I'm going with DD, her SIL and a cousin to a raw, vegan restaurant here in Austin. I'm assuming this means no hot food and am wondering about coffee and tea, umm, probably not. Did you hear the forecast for tomorrow? SNOW! Only 46* now at 1:30. I got my Roadtrek winterized this morning. They are talking temps in the teens tomorrow night, so couldn't take that chance. Also moved my three petunia pots inside. The are very happy. That's all for now. Hope you are staying warm and having a fun day! :)
