A video copied shamelessly from Kit Ketcham's blog because it's just perfect for a cloudy, windy day in the desert. Enjoy!

Given the color... faded orange/red..... I believe it to be an International or Allis Chalmers. My grandson is active in the local antique tractor club. My daughter goes by the knickname of "Old Allis Girl".... They love the old ones. He had his pic taken on his restored Allis Chalmers .... all dressed up in his tux to go to his jr. prom! I guess at that vintage they all sound alike. :D

Cedar, your are correct in that it probably isn't a John Deere and with the orange color I suspect it's an Allis Chalmers or Case. Unless they've changed color, Internationals are red, when they fade they get more pinkish. We had 3 on the farm I grew up on. I learned to drive on an International B. It just sounded like a John Deere to me. :D
All that being said, it's a tractor probably built in the foreign country where the film was made so it's hard to say what kind of tractor it is!

So, if they'd chosen a different make of tractor for their backup, would they have had to play in a different key?

Oh, I'd forgotten about a Case,... yep,.. we had one during my marriage on the dairy farm. it was pale orange and cream colored. you are right about Internationals fading to a pale red/pink color, i'd forgotten that. :D
