Revisit Tubac, AZ

Postby asirimarco » Thu Nov 26, 2009 9:18 pm

We went here last year but didn't get out and walk around. This year we decided to spend the afternoon there. Much to our surprise it was shuttered up tight. Very eerie walking around a town with no other people there.
Did see these guys but they wouldn't talk to us.

Just liked the look of these plants.

Arent these pretty and easy to take care of made of metal

Wish I could have bought this - but it's about 3 feet high.

And then there were these guys....

Well these will be my last pictures from the US until sometime next spring.
We cross into Mexico tomorrow a.m. Don't know how far we will go tomorrow. There is a little town I've wanted to stop at not too far from the border. Father Kino's remains are supposed to be there.
The Driver wants to get to Bahia de Kino so he can get huevos rancheros for breakfast. We'll see.
Sure hope the satellite continues to work. Phone calls will be getting expensive.

Those were neat. Looks like an artists town. Tell THE DRIVER to slow down and smell the cactus. Men are so destination oriented. :D

Kind of weird that the whole town would be shuttered up tight. Wonder what happened or what was going on? You would think if they had to evacuate for some reason that there would be signs of some sort up telling people to "Keep Out" or even close the road to the town. Would love to know where everyone has gone and why!!! :? 8-)

Would be a really neat place to go visit. Maybe??? I wonder if ya stayed overnight if you would disappear???? :| :? :o

Strange that there were no people around so I went to their Chamber of Commerce web site and found this:
Saturday, November 21, 2009 to Sunday, January 03, 2010

Holiday Art Market
Location: Tubac Center of the Arts
Annual exhibition of finely crafted artisan work at the Tubac Center of the Arts, 9 Plaza Road. Find the perfect gift at this much anticipated exhibition. For information, call 520-398-2371 or visit http://www.tubacarts.org.

Maybe they were taking siestas, LOL.

I guess they just wanted to stay home with their families for Thanksgiving Day. Bad for us but good for them.
