As to GPS - they are a guideline, I never follow mine blindly. Remember way back when I posted this:
As to dirt roads and sometimes non-existent roads - the gps systems are loaded from maps provided by the communites. Some of the roads aren't built yet, some are not paved, etc. Luckily, Tom asks me if I want it to take me on unpaved roads. That said, Tom tried to take me into the ocean as you can see above. I use the GPS mainly as a guideline - and never go anywhere without checking my atlas' and maps also. The gps is wonderful when traveling through cities, though - that's when I like it the most. Love that it knows which side exits are on, etc.
