Wow. What a story. The good news is now you know what your rig CAN do. That's
always comforting for me. And calling 911 was a terrific idea. I don't know that
I would have thought of it. With a MH, maybe I'd have unhooked my car and
gone for help!

OMG, glad you guys are safe. I already have issues with my GPS now I don't think I'll ever trust it again. Ask Mtngrl (Diana) about it taking us to Lost Maples State Park. We ended up at a deadend road and had to turn around.

You know, I really think our forum should have an annual "Checklist Charlie" Award, similar to the one we give each year in the Power Squadron for the biggest boating goof of the year. You'd top of the list of nominees for this year, that's for sure! :o I'm thankful all ended well.

YIKES!! So glad you and hubby are safe and sound! Those darn GPS things have led many of us in directions we do not want to
go.
Are you turned off with RVing or GPS systems??? Good luck and enjoy the day.

If you or someone else's life is in danger, yes! but do not call 911 because
McDonalds screwed up your order. True story, my daughter is a 911 dispatcher
and you would not believe some of the stupid stuff people call in. Lots of
stress in that job, I gotta hand it to her, don't think I could do that.

I'm so glad you two are ok, and you're a sharp lady, Vicky , to have thought of that. Your adventure, is everyone's nightmare !! One time your GPS failed you too. I keep putting off investing in one and the more I read here and my experience with others, not sure I need one. :D Sometimes in a big town, with an address, I might desire one, in daylight hours, where I could read street signs also.

I was anxious to know why you might have had to call 911, but my imagination would never have come up with your situation. An experience you will never forget and I doubt any of us will either.

Safe and Happy travels(from now on)

Carol

I couldn't post this , Mitch has her headlines, making me wait. Mitch, you are super, my belly laugh for the day, when Ronnie and the headlines popped out on my screen. Kind of a shock, but so funny. Those headlines are just GREAT, Ronnie looks a wee bit surprised too!!

That is the flaw in GPS units. They see cow paths as roads so don't always trust them. If it looks iffy then it probably is....don't go there.

I like checking the road maps to where I am going and get the basic idea and then if complicated or through a busy area he GPS is useful in talking me through what i already sort of know but haven't memorized.....It cuts down how often I have to pull over to refresh my short term memory....as in what I looked up that morning

Ok, so where's the pictures. I know you were thinking about taking pictures for us during all this. lol

Glad that nothing was damaged but your nerves. I am getting better about getting off the road before dark. Many times I have turned off at a sign for a campground. A couple of turns and nothing. I'm sure the campground owners are wondering why they don't have more business.
