I drove home in the rain, parked in the rain, and took pics in the rain today----BUT----it is DONE! I moved the trailer over to the right-hand side of the shelter a bit this winter, as it's more level over there. All 4 tires are up on wooden planks, and it's fairly level. Ice box is off for the winter, so no matter if it's perfect, or not. I got the new electrical wire screwed on (a removable one so I won't have to stuff it into a hole any more!) and things are up and running. My batteries are both still fine, and need no water. New tires look perfect. All is right with this rainy world today! No time to shop, however. I'll go to local super market in Lake Placid tomorrow...wanted to get home in a hurry and get this done! WHEW!

This shelter is made by Shelter Logic, and is something like 30 feet long, 20 feet high, and 12 feet wide. It was an undertaking for my son, Melissa, and I to put together, but it has withstood very high winds and tons of heavy snow last year. The frame is screwed into the ground with heavy-duty 18 inch screw-ins attached to the base of the frame with heavy-duty wire and turn buckles. The snow seems to just fall off the domed roof and build up along the sides all winter, thus helping to insulate it. It came with an end and front door that can be installed, but we decided to leave it open and see if the snow stayed at bay---it did just fine last year, which was its first winter. (The REAL reason we didn't install the ends is we got tired of working on it, and the instructions seemed too confusing to tackle at the time!) It is somewhat sheltered itself, in the trees behind it, so the winds do rattle the heck out of it, but so far it hasn't moved. When we got 70 mph winds from some nasty storm last year, a small tear in the front sleeve, which I repaired with Gorilla Tape, was the only casualty, and I fully expected the whole thing to blow apart! So far, so good, and it keeps the heavy snows off the roof of the trailer.
