NEW TRUCK CAMPER TOP

[b]I'm back, and I love my new camper top! I had forgotten I decided against the carpet-lined ceiling as it was an option that cost 125 dollars. I wish I had done it anyway, but oh well.....everything else about it I love. Here are some pics:

Saturday I will get my trailer. I wish it was spring so I could try this out at Silver Lake or Buck Pond!

its wonderful!! have had a few over the years, a friend had one with the carpet
ceiling, I didn't care for it, he had to vacuam it to keep it clean. I had fun making
my little curtains for our topper on the jeep truck. Glued little velcro points at the
corners, worked well.

Nice looking and very roomy too! I love the way you've outfitted it and tried it out already.

Cool Soos, that really looks good! Why would you want carpet on the ceiling? Does it help with heating or cooling? Ronnie want to get one to keep weather off his chair and keep stuff back there.

A very cool camper. Were the feet extra?

Know you are going to enjoy many adventures in your new travel quarters. Looks really neat with furniture set up.

Like Vickie, I need education on why carpet ceiling. Additional insulation sounds reasonable.

Yep....carpeted ceiling to give it a little 'class' and insulate better. I should have sprung for the extra money, as in my mind, I thought I had done so until I looked in it. But it will have to do for now. Perhaps they make a spray-on carpet?? :)

The feet were definitely extra with this outfit! I am going to get a little plastic stacking drawer thingy for the corner, with a solid top for my laptop and a place for my clothes. Then I will find some neat material to make simple curtains to velcro up for night time. I also have a small one-burner collapsible Coleman stove to heat up coffee water, which I will store in the little drawer thingy. Add my pee bucket, and what more do I need??!! The bed is very comfy, and there is plenty of room to move around in there. When I get my fold-up ladder for the back (http://www.pickupspecialties.com/Tailga ... _step.html) and set up a screen room outside, I will be set for weekending it anywhere without having to hitch and unhitch and rehitch!

It's a long wait now until spring, as it's 13 deg. F. out there this morning!

Looks good~ Beautiful truck and top. Mine has carpet everywhere EXCEPT the top and I'm sure I could probably get all the stuff out and actually use it for sleeping. Might try that sometime. Enjoy!

Why am I not surprised that your truck and top are bright red  And I know what you mean about just taking off without all the unhitching. Sometimes, I just want to leave my home where it is, jump into our van (which has a bed in back) and take off. carold

Soos, that looks fabulous. A few questions, please. Do the horizontal windows open? Do they have screens? Does the hatch open from the inside? I would think that using it as a camper, you would want to be able to close it at night or in rainy weather. Your set up is great. I love the idea of putting a minimum amount of camping stuff in it and just taking off for a night or weekend. That's what I want to do with my truck. How is the cot for sleeping? I was thinking of some kind of platform but if the cot is good for sleeping, that's a quick way to go, providing storage underneath. A little more storage and your are all set.

I would think there is some kind of insulation that you can apply to the ceiling of the camper top. Home Depot, Lowes or even the auto part stores should have some recommendations. Something to roll on, spray on, or glue on should be available. Or we can get "crafty" creative and come up with something that would work.

I love that ladder/bench/seat also. It is perfect for camping. I know, too bad I don't get excited about anything. Its fabulous, enjoy it.
