Ernie and the Electric Blanket...

Postby rvgrammy1953 » Thu Nov 05, 2009 12:39 pm

This is the continuing saga of Ernie coping while I'm away....(or maybe not coping.... ) Last week he calls asking me where do I put the electric blanket on the bed.... I said "on the bed"....He says....well, how? on top or on the bottom? Well I finally figured it out and he wanted to know where in relationship to what layer it was on the bed.....so I said...after the sheets and before the comforter..... So, that crisis was solved.....  Last night around 9:30pm, he calls...first he wast talking so fast and not making any sence (sp)....in fact, I didn't even reconized his voice....  ....so he yells at me...."You don't know who this is even after 32 yrs...." ....well, then he slowed down and I found out "Part 2" of the "Electric Blanket" story...seems he didn't plug it in when he put it on the bed....so now he wanted to know where all the plugs and controls were....again, after explaining where they were and how to hook them up....he got it done.....I think he's had enough of me not being there.....good thing I'm heading back Sat........I just had to share....and give ya' all a little laugh....we sure did here....

Rarely, do I log in at school but today 8th period which is remediation - I did. And as I was reading, I starting laughing and smiling and my students doing make-up work were wondering what I was doing and what was so funny. I have been married for 31 years and I can relate to your story.

But my husband thinks if he put a wrench down 5 years ago...it should be there. NOT. And when something is missing ....must have been me...NOT ALWAYS... Thanks for the story. And I bet your husband will be glad to have you home.

I also am keeping your family in my prayers.

Would someone please explain to me why they call us the "helpless" ones? God Bless Ernie - you better get home Lori.

Okay...I'm going to make a prediction ;) Ernie is going to get the controls switched around..when he goes to bed he's going to crank up the blanket and not get any heat on his side of the bed...keep turning it up and will still be cold...and Lori's side of the bed is going to be toasty warm. How do I know this :? I've done it...I kept turning up my control and was getting colder and husband was in the "well done mode" and had turned off the control on his side of the bed. Of course...that was before I was experiencing my own little private summers in the middle of the night!
My mind works like lightning...one brilliant flash and it's gone.

well now, that is a little chuckle, but poor Ernie, bless his heart, he misses you Lori,
better hurry home now . But I'd say he did pretty good only calling with one major
catastrophe.

My DH has the "can't find his butt with both hands" syndrome. I'm suppose to know where everything on the place is. I'm not sure when I got to be so all knowing. Since I quit working he also thinks I'm his secretary and farm hand. Now I remember why I liked working.

I'm just picturing what Ernie looked like when he called you - and I'm grinning ear to ear.

Ernie, gots to love you - And Lori, isn't it good to be missed.

Why is it that when men are helpless it's when they endear themselves to our hearts?
Perhaps it's because it makes us feel needed as most men don't show us that side often.
Cute story, Lori. God bless, Ernie! :D

Good story - hard to imagine "Doc" so helpless. Glad you'll be home soon.
