My Little Little Dog ...

Postby Getupngo » Wed Oct 28, 2009 8:03 pm

Yesterday, I left the house for a couple of hours, and Kiwi, my Little Little Dog (vs. Bandit, my
Big Little Dog) was asleep on the couch. When I came home, I tried to pick her up and she
yelped in pain. I put her on the ground, and she looked absolutely miserable, and could hardly
stand on her right front paw. When I picked her up again, my usually standoffish dog curled
up against me for comfort (a REAL symptom, for sure!).

I don't think she jumped off the couch and hurt herself, because she wouldn't have been
able to get back up (it's a slippery leather couch with a slippery comforter is on it). Anyway,
I felt her leg and there were no breaks and no swelling. She didn't yelp when I examined it.
I lifted her under her ribcage and no cries of pain.

So I thought it might be a sudden arthritic attack, and gave her a half tab of rimadyl. She
snoozed for a little while, and started getting around better. This morning I gave her another
half tab in the morning, and she's herself today. So I'm watching her.

glad she's back to herself but good that you are watching her. Its possible she twisted
a toenail, that has happened to mine occassionally. When Gracie broke her leg several
years ago she screamed and screamed and screamed and screamed, and I cried and
cried and cried some more. So if it were broke I'm sure you would have known it
for sure. But, then again, Gracie can be quite a drama queen and she'll scream
once and run to her cubby hole if one of the other dogs gives her "the look" which
I have no idea what "the look" is but Gracie sure does.

Don't you wish they could tell you why they hurt? Let's hope it was a passing pain & that all is well. Keep us posted.

I thought maybe her leg had fallen asleep ... but she looked and yelped like she was
in a lot of pain.

I HATE it when poochies are hurting and you can't figure out what's wrong. It happens every so often with Molly, and I have yet to figure out what happens to her. When will they ever learn to talk and tell us what's wrong!

Anyway, I'm glad she seems to be feeling better now.

Janice, I hope it's nothing serious. Sounds like ''you're on it', though. :D

My little girl is limping again this morning ... perhaps more evidence it's a bit of rheumatiz ....
