Getting back on the road tomorrow

Postby ali1257 » Mon Oct 26, 2009 7:48 pm

Well we have started packing up the motor home to hit the road in the morning. Had the local news on and they are forecasting snow for the morning commute  so I looked at DH and he said, well if we don't leave till afternoon we don't leave till afternoon.

We returned the rental car after doing some last minute grocery shopping and then did a couple loads of laundry (why does it seem that is a never ending job?) and straightened up the inside of the motor home. Now DH is watching football and I am catching up on emails.

We have figured out our route and figure we will be home sometime on Friday or Saturday - depending on road conditions and how we do on the passes. The passes through La Grande and Pendleton, Oregon are ones we have done before and did not have any problems so we are anticipating an uneventful trip home ~ at least praying for an uneventful trip home. Our route is I15 out of Salt Lake City to highway 83 to I84 in Idaho through Oregon to I5 in Vancouver, WA and then straight up I5 to home (Blaine, WA). This route takes us over 3 passes (Baker City, La Grande and Pendleton) and we avoid two passes in WA state.

Thanks all for your words/thoughts of encouragement. I will check in again as time permits on the way home or as soon as we get home.

Hope everyone has a good week. Talk to you all soon.

Ali, i have on the Portland news and they are saying snow levels down to 2500 ft. Not sure about the passes on I 84, but 26 through Mt Hood area is calling for a foot of snow. Will keep you in my prayers for safe travels tomorrow.
