We put in a call to check on Carolinagal. She should be home by today...... I need to be sure to PM her and give her my address....need those directions for her card game :D I am hooked.....am already trying to think of someone I can teach it too, so I can improve my skills before we meet up again... :)

Remi and the Twins came to an understanding..... They agreed to behave and use their good manners and follow the safety rules.
Image

Herschel suspects their change of attitude came after they saw "Red Wash Cloth" lost and left behind on the campground road...... The Twins realized that not all travelers have a second chance to make it home......sigh...
Image

We stopped at the South Carolina Welcome Center as we crossed the state line. It was the most complete information center I've been in (Okay, I haven't been in all THAT many!) They had walls and walls of brochures and most divided by the area of South Carolina. We happened to see the highlighted Route 11 that travels along the foothills in the north....It looked a lot nicer that the Truck filled I 85 I had just gotten on and off.

Here is what the road looks like and "Yep."...that is what the traffic looked like.

Image

We saw the sign indicating the waterfall ten miles north, so what could I do but turn and go. Ten up hill miles later...we found the waterfall. The there was the ten miles DOWN hill switching gears to be kind to the brakes....
I had to smile as I waited to turn back onto Rt 11.....a huge class A towing a car turned to head up the hill :? I don't know if they were just planning to make it to the waterfall.... or planning to come back down the hill, too! I'm glad that the traffic was light and very few cars came up behind me!

Image

And a beautiful view of the mountains.

Image

But if you walk down the steps to get the best view of the falls....you have to walk up and up...and up.

Image

I think the newer steps do look more used friendly than the older step along side.

Image

Our drive east ended in Charlotte, NC, parked in the "girl chick's" driveway. The tires JUST fit on the driveway....and I tried not to think of the overgrowth of bushes and low hanging small branches. They were small so I think we were okay..... Then I tried to find my adapter so that I could plug into the house and......it was know where.....so, no electric, in the middle of a close older city neighborhood (so no generator) and running low on Propane...we hunkered down with extra blankets and turned the furnace off and slept......

Herschel enjoyed the freedom of being off lead in Hannah's back yard!

Image

Heading out this morning we stopped at the Cowpens National Battlefield. It is a Revolutionary War Battlefield from 1781. The continental army under Morgan had the day! The grounds are beautiful and the weather today matched. The walk was only about 1 mile with tablets to read spaced along the trail telling you about how the battle was laid out and won.....

Herschel enjoyed standing in the foot steps of history....
Image

Image

And was glad that the sharpshooters were not after him or Remi!
Image

The British were coming up the Green River Road.....and well I was jealous of the young ladies that were riding down the Green River Road...it was a perfect fall day......and I imagined rides of my youth.....

Image

Today we traveled on to my (and the dog's) favorite campground, 4 Paws Kingdom in Rutherfordton, NC. Here we are lounging around our Scooby Do, site 7!
Image

And here we are taking advantage of the fenced dog swimming pond! Notice Remi is very careful NOT to get carrried away and into the wet stuff.
Image

And here we are enjoying being off lead and seeing if Herschel is going down. Remi was hoping but he and Izzy were no match for the big guy....
Image

It appears as though most of the campers staying here at the moment are women (with dogs!)......There is a campfire over younder calling my name. Oh, Oh....a have a surprise for Mitch....coming soon.....watch this space....it compliments one of her already wonderful ideas.......

Oh what a nice trip report! That's my kind of road for sure...I don't do interstates unless I absolutely have to. Just beautiful places you've seen! I like that cg, must make a note of it.

Poor Red washcloth! But, one never knows what he washed the last time he was used! :o Smart move to leave him right where he was!

I LOVE your narrative of your travels with all your 'living' passengers, as well as your foster twins and Mr. Sunny! Very clever, and so much fun!

Happy travels!
