Update on Lori's Family and Happenings

Postby Barbzeee » Sun Oct 18, 2009 7:34 pm

Ok.. got a call from Ernie tonight as and we talked ..it was very hard..as I felt his pain... You know when you get close with all our Sistahs regardless of what people say.. We all share the pain..I felt that lump in my throat.. and wanted to hug..

Here's the scoup.. How it happened... the correction the bull didn't go bonkers.. it was a very friendly Bull in fact the pet of the family.. because of the weather Brent had to use Round Bail Hay to feed.. he was trying to cut the string when the Bull and the Cows came at him.. Most of us that have had dealings with farm animals understand this..but for those that don't... When feed time.. critters can get alittle anxious.. and that is what exactly happened.. the Bull was moving in and knocked Brent down and the cows trampled over him.. Barb his sister tried to get the cows and bull to move out of the way and two knocked into her and she got caught between.. She has a broke vertebrae.. and all ribs are broken,,,

It took Barbara almost an hour to crawl back to the house to get help.. can only imagine the pain she was in..

Brent had shunts put in and was far beyond help...He was put on life support and when they did the brain scan.. there was no activity.. he was then declared brain dead.. they had planned to keep him on life support till his daughter arrived..but unfortunately because he was an organ donor they only have a certain amount of time to harvest the organs... So sad...

Funeral is Wed.... and they are hoping Barbara will be able to attend the service... Lori is holding up pretty good considering all what's happening..

Ernie was having a really hard time.. and asked me to Thank all of you for your prayers and You all are a special group of ladies...

Sorry for the confusion as when Lori was telling me ..she really wasn't quite sure herself... and I tried to figure what happened with the bull.. as we all know crazy things happen with critters...

Ok..so you are all kind of up todate... Please again.. keep Lori and Ernie and family in your prayers...

Trying to keep you all updated and clear info .. is not easy either...it's like a puzzle and you don't want to ask.. if you know what I mean... without giving them any pain...

Thanks again...

Oh, if you'd like to send Lori and Ernie a card.. please PM me and I'll give you their address I don't want to post it on a public board..

God Bless

Thank you for the update.
I can't imagine how painful it was for her to crawl to the house for help ! My goodness that just is unimaginable.
Blessing to him for being an organ donor, at least some good can come from this tragedy.
I'll continue to keep them all in my prayers

Thanks for the update, Zeee, so very very sad. The animals don't mean to cause harm, but do just because of their size. I've been trampled by cows and horses, not on purpose, but it still hurts. Prayers are going out for Lori and her family.

Thanks for the information and update Zeee. My thoughts as I read this is that can you imagine the love and strength that she had for her brother and her self preservation to crawl to the house to summon help. Some times when we are at a weak moment in our lives and think that we can't go on and then we hear about something like this and hope that if we were ever in that situation we could be like that. To me she is a Hero and deserves everything wonderful that life can possibly give her.

Thank you so much for that update, Barbzee. I know how hard it is for you to be the reporter of such horrific news.

What a true hero is Lori's sister----I am so hoping she will fully recover and can appreciate what a strong woman she is, knowing she was willing to sacrifice her own life to try to save her brother.

And poor Ernie is agonizing about Lori and her family all alone----big hugs to him, too.

The organs her brother is donating will be strong and long-living, and thereby keep parts of him alive in another's life for many years to come. An accident like this reminds me that I really need to fill out my organ donor card, too.

My candle is still burning and strength is being sent to Lori's family and Ernie.

Zee, thanks for the update. God Bless Lori's brother for being a donor. I know when I lost my mom it somehow helped to know that someone was able to see because of her cornea donations.

Absolutely on organ donation. My mom's corneas were donated too. And my best friend years ago recieved a kidney because someone was thinking of others at a time of their loss. Right now we have a 11th grader here in our school waiting for a kidney.

What a wonderful testimony to the kindness and love in Lori's family that they are agreeing to organ donation.

Zeee, thanks so much for the painful update. Such a tragedy, but what a gift her brother is giving to others.
And yes, Lori's sister is truly a hero -- and what a survivor. My love to Lori and her family.

And yes, life turns on a dime.
