Privacy curtain.

In my MH I do not have a curtain that sections off the driving cab from the rest of the cabin. So far I have used the windshield bonnet thing that stretches around on the outside when camping, It does make the inside feel larger but was wondering what everyone else uses and how they like it.

when I had my van, I used the sun shade thing at first, then I came across some
short curtains/long valances at a thrift shop and strung them on a cord that was
tied from each side where the visor came out of the top. It worked quite nicely,
and I just tucked the end into the dash with a folded towel.

Mine came with a privacy curtain. Is basically just a "sheet" that snaps in place on the upper left and right.

I have the outside thing you use, but don't like using it too often - I like seeing the view during the day - that's how I saw the Kaibab Squirrel - and just yesterday, if that had been on, wouldn't have seen the deer that walked in front of my rig. That said, I do use the outside piece when in VERY hot climates and VERY cold climates and I have to pay the heating/cooling. That really makes a difference. Otherwise, I open and close the privacy curtain - open during the day, closed if I need privacy and at night.

I use my outside windshield curtain AND an inside sheet as I sit a folding bookcase in front with my books and DVD's on it. I don't want to heat or cool the cab section when I'm parked.

First, Karen makes a good point about loosing heat or having to cool any extra space.
I think I'd also have to agree with Beth in that I'd like to be able to see out the front, too, if I wanted. I certainly had a limited view at the state park I was at using the bonnet. I also worry that if I was bookdocking and needed to leave quickly for safety reasons I certainly wouldn't want to have to deal with the bonnet!
So I'm thinking I'll make a curtain, just not sure what to make it out of, or how I'll attach it. Another good excuse to go visit Little Missy and sit and ponder "stuff"! I love just sitting in her! But for right now I think I'll go look at the pictures I posted in Show Off Your Rig to jump start my brain.

You might check out suppliers for truckers for a sun shade large enough to fit on the inside of the windshield. Then you wouldn't have to go outside to remove it.

I use Easy Curtain. It slips over your sunvisors and side windows. I preferred having something on the inside because of limited storage for the bonnet especially if it was wet. A quick escape if necessary was also a consideration. The curtain was about $100 five years ago. If you search "Easy Curtain" on www.rv.net you can read the pros and cons.

I use a folded sheet. I have two padded side panels that are behind the seats and I "attach" the sheet with pins.

I made one for our "C" - only use it after dark and it helps with the cold too. Easy to make and to put up and take down. Using Velcro along the top edge.

Where it was really hot in Vegas we just used a sun shield over the front windows - just to keep things cooler still used curtain at night.

Carol, great idea, but I think your entertainment center is directly above the windshield (?) so the curtain is close to the window. Mine will have to be behind the seats, like Karen's, and I also have the curved padded sides to contend with. Hmmm... wheels are turning.

Mine is behind the seats like yours would have to be - you simply could put velcro (or like mine, snaps) on either side on the top of that portion of wall behind both seats. That's where my snaps are.

I never use the outside portion when boondocking - it's always important to me to know I can pull out without getting out. I don't open my slide in those situations either - why I wanted a slide I can use when I want to - not that has to be open to get to things.

I love the curtain Carol made, tho - look how personalized that is. My ugly one came with my rig and I'm not a sewer - so it will stay. Love seeing what all you talented/gifted people do.

Lenora, I have a curtain that came with mine and matches the ones above around the bunk. It is attached with velcro type dots that run all the way around the top of the windshield. Sometimes I think it's a painto put up and then fold up in the morning but I do like that i have the option. I just bought one of those bonnets with the plan to use it once I get her winterized. I'm hoping it will help keep some of that nasty white stuff off till I'm ready to head south. I thought it might be nice also when I will stay in one spot for more than a few nights. I don't thnik Eddie will like it as he loves to look out the windows and wait for me to return.

When I owned Ms"B"Haven, the previous owner had made a lined curtain for the windshield it attached with Velcro above the windshield. At first I thought it was a dumb idea but I really ended up liking it. I kept the material rolled up and in a cabinet. Stopping at night I could quickly "stick" it up on the Velcro and it never, ever fell down. We've had two motor homes that have curtains on a track around the dash. They work fine, but having all that curtain material waded up beside the seats is annoying. The new MCD or RollerEase shades are supposed to be great, but they cost a small fortune. Guess we'll keep the wrap-around curtain and use one of those large silver sunscreens when it is really hot.

I bought shade cloth from Lowe's. Measured and cut a piece to go across the windshield and door windows. I put curtain rod hooks up above the windshield and doors, made grommets in the top of my curtain and hung it up, quick inexpensive, keeps the heat out but you can see through it. No one can see in easily during the day and then can put my snap up curtain at night.

This is a very simple fix.
