New flatscreen TV

Postby AlmostThere » Fri Oct 09, 2009 4:30 pm

Got my new flatscreen TV installed in Little Missy today. I really like it!
I'm posting a before and after picture. Sorry the picture of the new TV still
has fingerprints all over it. I took the picture before cleaning it.
Before:

After: I had him tilt the TV down so it's easier to see from laying down etc.

Very nice, Lenora. I wish I had the entertainment area in the cab, instead of the bunk. But my son's GF did sleep up there when they came to visit last year.
Love your new TV.

Looks great (except for the fingerprints, of course)...
Seriously, looks like it was built for that space. Nice installation.
How's the picture?

The picture is great! We got in allot of channels just using the crank up antenna.
I didn't have the special cleaner for flatscreens anyway. Just water and a soft cloth won't remove the oils from fingerprints. I picked some up after I tucked Little Missy back in to her covered storage slot so need to get back out there an try it.

Nice job, and the tv is on the outside so you don't have to worry about an echo. Ours, for some stupid reason is placed inside a compartment, but the speakers are in the back of the tv. Who thinks these things up :x We will need to either pull the tv out or get our sound box out of storage and mount it above the tv. Looks like you are just about ready for a looong trip with all the amenities :D carold

Dear Dummy J,

First off - YOU'RE NOT A DUMMY!

Now, televisions...yes, the government has succeeded in creating a lot of corn-fusion in this department! :)

IF you have cable or satellite television hooked up to your television set(s), there is no need to do anything at all. You'll still get all the channels you got previously, not matter if you have a digital or analog tuner in your television set(s).

IF you were receiving your programming with an Over-The-Air antenna (like we all had when we were kids), then you had to do something to continue receiving your programming - you had to either get a new DIGITALLY equipped television, OR buy a converter for your old analog television that would convert the broadcast digital signals to analog to then be used by your analog television.

What the government didn't widely publish, however, is that they cut the power on the digital broadcasters and that's why there is so much complaining from so many people about not getting the same number of channels they got previously. Also, you could watch/listen to a snowy analog picture, albeit annoying. With a digital picture, it's all or nothing - you either get the picture and sound or you get nothing. Grrrrrr...

Janet, I'm with you on that! All I know is that with the converter still hooked to the flatscreem it only picked up 3 channels but couldn't get any picturel. As soon as we elimated the converter box it found 50 and I got a perfect picture. I don't question it, I just go with what worked.

Great looking TV. I know you will enjoy it. I've had luck getting reception with my crank up but both my TVs are digital.
