Pictures I took when I got back from shopping today. It was a beautiful fall day once again.

WOW! lovely, just lovely!

Did you read my post answering yours about retirement? Just wondered if I had missed it. I'm still having trouble navigating around this whole site. IT's pretty extensive!

Soos, is the 4th & 5th pics Potato fields? I didn't know they grew potatoes up there. I'm confused, potatoes grow underground so how have these been harvested, it looks like the plants are still in the ground with the tops cut off. What am I missing or not seeing right here?

Good observations, girls! Those are potato fields in the off-season planted to timothy and alfalfa hay to 'renew' the earth for potatoes next year! I forgot to mention that, as, to me, all those fields are just 'potato fields.'

I did see your response to the retirement post, Janet...just no time to answer it until now!
My phone (real land phone---no cell service here), DSL internet, and satelite TV are through Verizon here at home---all together in one bill. About 150+ per month. I have no clue what I will do for internet and TV when I take to the road yet. I could possibly keep the same Verizon and TV service if I can find a campground with land phone service, and if I buy a satelite dish for my trailer. OR, I could use free Wifi for internet, and antenna TV.

My electricity here at home would be shut off while I am not living here, my water system (well) would be shut off and pipes and water heater and storage tank drained and antifreeze put into traps. At least, that is the plan now. No chance of renting this place....nobody to watch it and make sure all my valuables aren't ripped off. It takes skill and experience to stay warm here---not a place to rent to anyone without that experience. I am planning to get an alarm/security system to keep track of fire and break-ins when I am not here.....like ODT, or whatever those stupid initials are. Too much for me to think about today, as the sun is trying to come out and I need to be outside! And, besides, trying to think about all the stuff I need to do to retire makes me too tired to want to do it.

My rain gauge shows 4.5 inches of rain we have had this past week.
Off I go to get some outside stuff done while it's not raining!

Sorry to tax your brain, Soos,,, but thanks for the reply. I understand what you mean about not wanting just ANYONE around your place when you're not there,,, also the "ropes" of living where things need to be "taken care of" in cold weather. My place has idiosyncrasies too,, that not everyone could pick up on.

I had a rough week @ school too. WOnder if it's the autumnal solstice or something making the kids WILD! haha!

anyway,, relax , enjoy the rest of your weekend and thanks for the lovely pics of the fall colors. I'm sure everyone loves them as I do!

best regards and keep ur chin UP!

oh,, about the internet, I'm athinkin' that wifi and cable tv are the cheapest way to go for us gals on a budget! That's what I plan to do anyway,, and have done b4. Also,, I will keep my aTT cellphone nationwide service. I pay around $48.oo a month and I think that's cheap and the service all the way to ALaska was great 2 yrs ago. Perhaps you could just add cell service thru your verizon when you drop your land line service. Ok, ill stop now! ;)

Soos, as usual, the pictures from your home and surrounding area are fantastic. Makes me homesick for NY, but not during the winters. I'm spoiled now. :D Thanks for taking the time to take the pictures and post them. Linda
