Still too hot for fires here, but I'll sit a spell. Lemon cake and vanilla ice cream for me. Want some? It's not good to be stuck in a stick house with a big refrigerator that works. Eating too much, watching too much TV, too hot to go outside, etc.

I've ordered a new refrigerator for the rv (Over the internet) and am having it shipped to the rv service place where they will install it. Hopefully it will be shipped and can be installed without a hitch....cause, I've got that itch too.

Janet, sure wish we'd had you and your scissors on our trip to Alaska this summer....maybe I wouldn't have had so many bad hair pictures. Of course most of the bad hair pictures were bear or moose...

I'm packing for my Cruise (I'm trying to see how many times I can reference my cruise on the forum, how am I doing? ) and thought I would stop in and get a beer or two, don't know what the count is but I'm gonna add a 24 count so I know there are at least 22 left.

Has anyone noticed the starter of this post has not visited in quite a while? Fernie, where are you??? I know it's not time for the RVing Women convention yet so where are ya? Check in with us and let us know your are still taking nourishment. I want to know before I go on my cruise.

noticed on the smokey bear board tonight as I was coming home that the fire danger is moderate....highest I've seen it all summer!!! so everyone be carefull at the fire tonight ok???
we are folding up and moving on Tuesday campground closes and the gates get locked up at 12:00 Noon!! hopefully our slides will go in!!! last year the critters chewed on hoses the fluid goes through and they leaked...we are hoping it will be better this year!!!
tired tonight so just going to sit here and enjoy the fire

Ah, nice campfire here, today....so I'll sit awhile and since quite a few of us have been having a beer or 2 thought I'd do a BEER Count!! Don't really have the time to re-read the posts, so will say we've drank about a case, then Sunshinecrusier add a case....and the last count was 108......so, here we go...
108 minus 24 =84 +24=108...

108 bottles of beer on the wall.........108 bottles of beer....

Whew, want to keep the count correct so when Fernie checks in she know that I'm keeping the inventory current....

The campfire is so nice this afternoon, dry and warm and restful. I just feel really tired this evening. Raining for real out there and everything is mud. Am suppose to be heading out again on SUnday to Celina, Ohio and the Gypsy Journal Rally. I have caught up on laundry from the PA GTG but have yet to tackle washing the Baby Bus' floors from the mud...most of it off my driveway as I carried stuff into the house! A couple of dogs need washing if they are to travel with me. Rain and mud not being a good combination for them either.... but I have tomorrow. Got the oil changed today and some reading done. WIll do my "take my step mother shopping tomorrow" since apparently that was what worked for her.....I did notice more confusion on her part when I called to say I was could come over to visit Thursday.... She had to have the calendar directly in front of her to get her dates and days right.....

I am looking forward to seeing Margie again and checking out her new wheels/home. Hope all goes well with doctor appt./home sale/last minute moving details, so that they can get out of town on schedule...... Hoping my energy level improves tomorrow...sometimes it just goes in waves...and the tide seems to be out right now. Where did Cedar leave that bottle of wine last........?

Good afternoon!

For the most part, things have settled down in school a bit the past few days, and I think the really angry students (two of them) are realizing that there WILL be consequences for their bad behavior. (Lack of any free time whatsoever, no going out alone, no doing ANYTHING alone) And they are also rewarded, for good behavior, with some free time to play cards or do something fun.

However, on another note, I have been trying like mad to make my budget work for next year, and no matter how hard I try to make ends meet, I can't seem to do it. If I can get my large loan paid off, I will be able to make it on my SS and my teacher's retirement (TA's retirement=nowhere near a teacher's retirement sum.) (As long as nothing catastrophic happens anywhere----absolutely NO savings anywhere for me) If that loan is not paid off by then, I just won't be able to afford to go anywhere other than here, my house, and substitute teach for a year. Here I have no rent to pay....and no mortgage....so all I have here (other than truck and trailer payments which I would have anywhere I went) is insurance and electricity and heat and phone/TV....all of which don't add up to renting in FL per month. (Wiley pays the taxes.) If I move to a FL campground, I will have rent and utilities and who-knows-what-else to cope with.

BUT...I should still be able to retire and sub, which is now paying 85.00 per day. A few of those days a month would carry me through, I think. And yet, if I taught full time another year, I would have 30 years towards my NY State Retirement, which would bring that monthly retirement payment up. But if I teach another year, my brain and my body will be that much older and stupider and weaker. And I will spend money on gasoline to commute to work, and more for kerosene to heat this place when I am at work. So much to think about, and I need to decide by the end of December, according to the Saranac Lake Teacher's Association. My head is spinning, and I am going to pour me some habub in the form of Elations and a shot of Vodka!

Sigh...too much to think of this afternoon after a tough week. I hate to think I will have to teach until I drop dead on the job, but I hate to think of me starving or freezing to death, too. I am lucky to have a job. But I have been working all my life since I was 16, and I am really tired of it. Why didn't somebody tell me retiring would be so dang costly and hard and confusing and painful!!!!!

Off I go to get my Elations cocktail (Maybe it will elate me!) and take Molly for a walk in the beautiful woods, which always perks me up. I am so confused!

I'll be back to sit by the fire later and contemplate until my mind goes numb!

But I'm like you, when I retire I'll still have to work part time just to make extra money.
My social security plus my retirement will get me by but there won't be anything for
extra stuff. We sure don't want to work forever do we?

Finally made it back to the campfire. Feels good tonight. We are spending night in Golden, CO and it is supposed to get pretty cold tonight. Actually drove through an area where there was snow right next to the road and all the mountains around us were covered with lots of snow. And four days ago we were in 105 heat. Love this country and our freedom to move around it. Did some 4 wheel driving while in Moab. Lots of fun. Have been keeping my blog up - well kind of I'm a day or two behind in it too. Something really weird happened today. Just before I woke up this a.m. I was dreaming about a friend of ours from Nashville that we haven't seen or heard from in a long time. (Hes been in Oklahoma.) Guess who called today! WOW. Hes back in Nashville now. Makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up.
As always its great to be here with everyone. Will have to come back more often.

Soos, I can certainly relate to your situation. I was recently given an opportunity to retire next month with a cash incentive.
Unfortunately, I don't have my financial ducks in a row either. It really pains me that I can't accept this offer as I don't see anything like it coming my way anytime soon. My devil-may-care side is ready to go. But I have to sit on her for at least a year. If I tell her maybe this time next year, I can keep her under control. Don't tell her but I really need to keep working for another 21 months.
My problem too is that I have a very physical job that is really wearing me down. Hopefully, I can hang on just a little longer without doing myself any permanent harm. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you so that all works out as you planned. Cheryl

Such decisions to make by one's self! I know I will face that some day (sooner than later,I hope). That's why I've chosen to start at least THINKING about it now. As I stated before, when I joined, I'm here, tied to the parents til they are gone, and God only knows the day and time that will be, so.........

My heart goes out to you and i relate SO much! I was looking @ the bills you mention. TV? does that mean satellite in the rv? Phone = cell, right? Electric? do you have to pay electric when you are gone and can't turn it off @ your house? (i have a house too, or will have). Insurance.. yeah .. for the rig, etc. But you have ins. w/ the teacher thing, right? I pray that medicare will still be solvent when I need it! Yeah, I said PRAY! I shall!

Again, sure a lot to consider,, and I sincerely empathize. Makes me think bigger and deeper,, myself! I, TOO have no savings.. unless I sell m&d's house and keep mine.and rent it.... or decide to sell both. Mine has 48 acres w/ it. Gotta make THAT decision when the time comes.! WHEW! Talk about brains on overload!

I have been subbing here parttime and it only pays $50 a day. (poor district) I haven't gotten to the point where I can save any, but i intend to, asap. I have a chance @ a pt job @ the post office.. and that pays more so,, praying that i get that too! ALso, have to be here for my folks to take them back and forth to the dr. and just be here for their peace of minds. (both are 87)..I know it might get worse b4 it gets better.. or gets "done".

anyway....sorry if I ramble.....

Stopped by to pick up my chair from the camp fire circle and load it up. Am heading off in a few minutes to the fairground in Celina, OH and the Gypsy Journal Eastern Rally.....Here is to learning good stuff from the seminars and all the people I meet. Hopefully the vendors won't make me leave too much money behind, b/c I need gas to get home. I bought me tire pressure pro system last year...... Margie and her husband are already at the fairgrounds per her Blog...this is there "We are now Full-timers" trip..... I met Margie last Sept at the Rally and have her to thank for telling be about the Forum..... Last year I didn't have an air card and unhooked and drove into town and the coffee shop one day just to stay connected with the world. I am looking forward to being able to check as time allows...you know, when I am not out studying ....walking the dogs, or visiting, or eating or drinking vino......
