Okay, looks to me like some kind of mat or rubber/plastic thingy that is rolled and clipped with those type of paper clips that are black metal and silver handle thingies, LOL.

What is its use? Its purpose for existing (which, in your case, will NEVER be determined...)???

Hommie's guess: (and you think I"m picky) He first said a piece of vinyl or linoleum, then he got picky and said that that rolled up thing was not actually black and the black objects were the clips holding it together. I tried to explain to him that you were indeed referring to the rolled up thing, not the clips and he "informed" me that (LOL) people outside of Louisiana do not consider all shades of black as black or different shades of red and maroon or whatever, LOL. Ya see what I have to put up with on a daily basis, LOL!!! Yep, all Sistahs feel free to slap him up side the head when you see him, LOL!
