Soos, you can back a trailer up to turn it around, even back and forth several times if you need to, but if you're towing a car you can't backup. That's why Karen had to dis-connect to turn around. Only happened to me once, and only because I followed my BIL into a truck stop at the wrong driveway that ended in a dead end. I had to dis-connect, back into a driveway and then re-connect the car. I still don't know how he turned that 40ft 5iver of his around, but he did it. I'm pretty careful about where I go, but I'm sure my time is coming where I'll have to do it again! I've made wrong turns and circled around like a dog chasing his tail, tho! That's how Evie took off her A/C, she didn't follow me 3 miles to find a place to turn around when I made a wrong turn in Texas.

Beautiful pictures, Carol. Carolinagal and I took that route in 2005 (I think) and stayed in a campground overlooking the valley....is that not there anymore, perhaps replaced by the hotel? Anyway we didn't take the road into the valley....no toad, but really wished we could have. The pictures are different with different lighting during the day or different weather. A really beautiful surreal place, as you said. Thanks for the photos.

Saw a news story a while back that said that satellite has shown that the Four Corners is located about a block from where the monument is currently located.

Thank you so much for those gorgeous pix!! We were there about a year ago and could not find a RV park so we stayed in a little shopping area close to McDonalds. Some of the locals (Indians) had a good time walking by the RV asking for any change - of course, I think they had plenty of alchol by that time of early evening. We actually went to see Monument Valley before we found a place to stay.

Have heard that Monument Valley is the MOST photographed place there is. It is sooo amazing how those rocks formed. We parked the RV in the lot by the hotel center and took our tow car thru the Valley. The car was total red (even in the engine) from that dust until we could get it to the car wash. VERY bumpy ride but the pups didn't mind too much. Wonderful place to see that's for sure.

Had a memorable visit to MV myself, w/ my fam in 1978, I think it was. We were in a 20' Open Road class c... i loved that rig! Was perfect for us. Stayed in the only cg there at the time,, i'm thinking it was a KOA. Was on the reservation. Lots of Navahos around in their native garb. Did you see any of that?

Thanks for the awesome pics of MV! I love that place! My kids, who are grown now, remember the "mittens".

A note about that comment of blocking the road w/ your trailer, etc,,Soos, that's why i'm scared to tow but plan to own a MH.

Any other comments are sure welcomed... or WANTEd, actually :)

love ya'll!
p.s. how'd I do, Vickie? ;)
