Mike the ranger at the national park on San Juan Island just told me I can't come until October 25. I've sent him an email asking how long I can stay after I come. The volunteer couple that was supposed to leave Oct. 1 is staying until the 25th. And another couple is arriving next week to take the other RV hookup site. My concern is when the NEXT volunteers will arrive and force me to leave.

These volunteer spots can be like dominoes -- and I just got knocked over. LOL. But I understand. I told him last summer I might not be able to make it because of doggie illnesses... and he made other arrangements. My bad.

Frankly, I am unsure whether I can go that late in the season. I'd be backed up against the "bad-weather-on-the-way-home" concern. Last winter was a hard one ... and the trip between Boise and Salt Lake can be white-outs. I'd need a 4-5 day no-snow forecast to make it home.

Rats.

hi there Janet, sounds like the plans are a little screwed up, are you looking to get
out of Utah for the winter? or just a trip? Maybe this is the year you will see new
sites, new horizons. How ya doing otherwise :?:

I'm doing well ... and no, I'm not looking to go for the whole winter. If I did, I wouldn't be heading to the Northwest. My biggest concern is that I've gained a lot of weight and I need badly to shed it. Maybe I should just take this time at home to get some structure (and a program!) to get rid of these pounds and get back in shape. This YEEEEEEKKK!! revelation occurred after I went to a family party. My brother-in-law emailed photos to everyone. OMG I look like a WHALE. It's amazing how I adjusted to my view in the mirror over time.

Hi Janice
Do you live in your MH? Good luck with the lbs. and wherever you go. Is SLC home? I'm sure you will make the most of whatever you set out to do!!

Don't mean to sound dumb,, but where is San Juan Island? I was really disappointed when you said you'd gained weight while you were GONE from home.. on the road,, etc. SHEESH! I was hoping that being on the road ,, schlepping the rv, etc. would make one LOSE weight!?!?! HELP! ! !

Oh well,, my plan is to be in warm climes in winter and cooler ones, preferably mtns,, in summer. But i know when you want to be home,, there's no substitute!

Enjoyed your posts. I love this site!

another JANET  wannabeNewbie! ;)

JanetA: San Juan Island is between Anacortes, Wa (north of Seattle) and Vancouver Island, Canada.
