Where's Jenny-Oregon

Postby SeeyaGal » Sat Sep 19, 2009 11:36 pm

Well gals I have left the Pacific Northwest and heading down thru Oregon. We had a great Summer and very little rain. In fact we had the hotest day in history on my GD's 17th birthday. Car registered 107 degrees!!! Now on the West side of the mountains it rarely gets over 90 and it was 103 degrees!!! It has not been that hot in 118 yrs!! East of the mountains it gets over 100 degrees all the time in the Summer, those people ALL have air-conditioners!!
We visited alot with all our family and even got in some special days at the Snoqualmie casino for lunch with some of them. My dear Aunt Rete and I had a great time playing on the slots all day and of course she ALWAYS came back out with more money than me!!
Enjoyed our many outings with our friends, the Boomers Minirang at Lake Chelan was great, had a great time altho I had a horrible sinus infection but between meds I enjoyed my friends and had a great time.
Dan has lost 47 lbs from the Wii Fit and riding his bike all over the place, dang he looks skinny now, thinner than when I met him 18 yrs ago! Shocked his doctor when he went in for his physical...he looks and feels great!
Enjoyed seeing our oldest GD but did not get to see the youngest GK's this summer, pretty sad because they missed out on some great campouts this summer.
We arrived to Seaside Oregon on Thur 17th. Yesterday we went on a spending spree and bought 4 new tires for the Jeep, new laptop computer ( bought a HP Pavilion) our Toshiba was over heating and would constantly shut off and slow. Our older HP computer outlasted the Toshiba also so will stick with HP.
Got a Digital picture frame, Wii Resort game and slot machine game for PC for my birthday present....all tax free!!

So now I'll have to be a Wal-Mart greeter to make up for the spending spree lol.
Two more quick stops to South Beach area and near Florence at the Casino and then arrive to Winchester Bay for the Crabfest. We are anxious to see our RV friends again.
Cats are anxious to go home! They are all on a diet, no dry food and reduced canned food with low carbs. Biff is still 27 lbs!
Mom made me another beautiful gourd for my birthday.
Motorhome is loaded again with stuff to take to the casita, Only have one thing left in my friends attic. Everything is out now.
We will spend Halloween at Jojoba Hills near Temecula CA. Dan has the choice to be two clowns or Prince Charming and the evil fairy from Sleeping Beauty I have the costumes packed in the motorhome. Still need two kool Pirate costumes for the Valentines Day party we have been invited to next year and the theme is Pirates.
Glad to be heading home now.

Sounds like quite a summer, Jenny. And Fantastic for Dan. How about before and after pics???? Maybe I can show them to my tGM and get him motivated. We enjoyed our month on the Oregon coast and gTM caught quite a bit of fish. Went out twice in Winchester Bay. My GKs have al lot of Wii games, including Fit. They made me take the age test and it said 41! Don't know how that happened-maybe the oldest stuck in something while I wasn't watching. It sure has a lot of exercises to do as well as working out on balance, which is my downfall. Am looking forward to posts and pics of your summer now that you have a new computer. carold

Drive safe and have fun! Hopefully I can get out to see you when you get back into "our" neck of the woods, but for sure will see you in Q! Hugs to you and Dan!

Oh, it's so nice that you two can keep so busy together! What a great summer you've had. Sorry you didn't get to see all your GKs, though. Congrats to Dan and his new healthy lifestyle!! Sorry your computer went belly up but glad you found a replacement. Looking forward to seeing many pictures of your crab catch/eating, then Halloween, which I always look forward to.
Take care!! Hugs, Lenora

there you are, been wondering about you and where you were. Dan did good on
the weight loss, and he's probably really fit now since the wii, perhaps you
should put Biff on the same program
Looking forward to the crabbing pics, I remember last year and they make my
mouth water for some yummy crab. Have a safe trip and post when ya can.

Here we are at Winchester Bay Oregon, on the most part sunny days but windy, we've also had our rainy days too. Clamming is slow and Dan had only gotten 5 crabs since last Thursday. He was really pouting and ready to say heck with it and leave till today when he brought in 5 more. One of his crab traps got wrapped around one of the dock pileing and could not work it free unless he was in a boat. He had a heck of a time getting it unstuck for a couple days and finally freed it ( no crabs of course) but my honey is black and blue all over both arms from trying to work it free, poor guy!

Here is one of our Keepers

This is the dock the cage got stuck under.

Today I cooked a huge pot of Clam Chowder, filled a 12 QT pot full and there was nothing left at the end of the Potluck so I know it was good!! I had snagged the Recipe from Doogers Restaurant in Warrenton Oregon years ago and it just gets better and better every time I make it! Guess I will have to post it in the Recipe area when I get back to having power again.
We are sitting in the marina in a dry camping area, we have alot of rigs here, I counted 73 people in our group the Roving Rods. The guys are doing all the crabbing and the gals cracking them and picking out all the crab and then we have been having fun playing cards or going out to lunch and then playing cards with the guys at night. One night we went out for chicken fried steak at the Eagles and tomorrow is taco night there so we'll probably go again.

I'd give anything to be able to use my washer about now......phew Dan's clothes stink from crabbing...gag...gag! Guess I am not the only one, all the other gals are making their mates hang them outside lol
We are having fun but thanks to a dredger ( ship going back and forth in the harbor) it is chaseing away the crabs! We have not seen it in two days so think the crabs are coming back into the harbor looking for food.

Sounds like you guys are having fun and eating well too  Dan might have to do just a little more Wiing to keep those calories from showing. He looks great in the picture. When we were there in July, the boondocking area was just about empty, but the the RV park and county parking areas were filled. Am looking forward to that crab recipe. carold

I remember when you were clamming last year. Glad to see that Dan started catching so that it's fun again.

Let me know when you'll be in Yuma - am hoping to catch up with you there for a bit before going to the Baja this winter. Course it all depends on how "booked" up you are. You are one of the busiest couples I know.

Okay, Jenny. You've now made me kind of homesick for Oregon. It's time to head back there for a while, probably in the spring. I've now paid my dues with a full year in Kansas and Oklahoma. Nice places to visit and spend a little time in. But, Oregon has always been home.

Thanks for the great pictures.
