TUESDAY MORNING

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

TUESDAY MORNING

GOOD TUESDAY MORNING TO ALL!

After a night of fitfull sleep due to wondering if my alarm clocks will go off, or not, here I am so NOT ready to go to school. And two of them went off just fine. Hopefully I will remember which ones worked tonight! In between I have wild dreams that make me very tired out. I tried leaving my TV off last night, but the tinnitus drove me nuts in just 20 minutes, so on it went again. I never think about things like that when I don't have to get up at a certain hour and be ready for a work day. If I don't sleep, no matter---I can read for a while or do a crossword puzzle. But, on a work night, I simply MUST sleep! ACK!

Coffee tastes good----hazlenut again as I can't seem to afford the fancier, more exotic flavors any more----with vanilla creamer. NO mice again in traps down here this morning, but Molly seems to think there are some upstairs today. I guess I will try setting traps up there for a couple of nights and see what I catch.

Am really looking forward to my first paycheck in two months this Friday, and then another one (SS) will arrive next Wednesday, followed by another paycheck the following week. Perhaps I will get caught up again and make some headway with my bills. Somehow I just can't fathom getting along yet without paychecks, but I need to try it next year. It really scares me to think of having to live hand to mouth as I did this summer. But the thought of working until I drop dead scares me, also. Sigh-----as my mother always told me, Life is hard.

I am wondering what our school's attitude to the prez's speech to the students will be today, and what our special needs class will do. We have a TV with cable in our room.

Pull up a chair and tell us about your day and your projects or your ideas.

Happy travels!

Good Morning Soosie and everyone!

I slept very well, so sorry you had such a miserable night, Soosie! That's not a good thing. I never use an alarm. Can't remember when I did last, and my internal clock wakes me up by 5:30, at the latest, every morning unless I'm camping. I always have plenty of time to be on duty by 7:40 as required. Some nights I am wakeful and spend an hour or so watching tv in the middle of the night, but usually it's sleep right through from 8:30-9:30 p.m. to morning.

This is my first day back to work. Today is a "Superintendent's Day" for pre-service training. So we can expect the usual presentations and then tomorrow the kids arrive! I'm looking forward to that and getting back into routine for another school year. I'm actually looking forward to at least 2 or 3 more years of working. I don't want to miss my granddaughter's sports events and she doesn't graduate until June of 2012. I figure it keeps me young!

So,... I'm off to the kitchen to get my Total cereal and some toast and gear up for the day.

Have a great day, everyone!

Good morning everyone!

Ah, I well remember the nervous sleepless nights the day before going back to school, and especially the day before the kids arrived. In my last few years of working I learned to use a dr. prescribed sleep aid on those days (Ambien CR) to make sure I got a good 8 hours sleep. I still use it occasionally when I know I have a big day ahead and am likely to have trouble sleeping. That's rarely now since I'm retired. Retirement is such a stress reliever. Aaaah.

Nothing strenuous planned for me today...staying in the air conditioning and out of the hot humid Florida air outside. A little laundry, a few phone calls to catch up on local friends, perhaps a visit to a friend in the hospital in Gainesville (30 miles away). May also go to the library and see if they have a book I saw in the Yukon and want to read, but don't want to buy. Soon I need to begin "getting the red out" of all these forum posts I've missed. I know I've missed laughter and tears, birthdays and travels, so I pray all is well with you today.

Liz, it's good to see you again...I, for one, have missed you and your posts!

Soos - being nosy here - just how many alarm clocks do you need / have ? ? ?

Well, off to get new tires put on the van (yet again) before our big trip next week.
Hope you all have a wonderful day.

Mitch, I generally do have a period of adjustment after a long trip...sort of a funk, I guess, and don't post as often for awhile. Thanks for "missing" me; don't worry, I'll soon be reacclimated and back online. I'm anxious to get the rv "issues" fixed so I can have some local adventures at least. I will take it to the Ford dealer for service tomorrow and have a squeak investigated and power locks fixed. Then on to the rv place to order a new refrigerator so I can boondock without worry. After that....watch out!

Another foggy morning in Illinois, my cousin told me for every heavy fog we get in early September we will have a heavy snow during the winter. She is moving back here this fall from a beautiful place California where the humidity is always low and they rarely have snow. If her fog prediction is accurate we're going to have a lot of snow this winter! I should ask if she just wants to trade places!
Soos have you ever tried listening to meditation tapes to relax and go to sleep. Some just have nice music with someone guiding you through a progressive relaxation. When I read how hard your life is because of the dangerously cold winters there I wonder if you ever think about selling and moving to a kinder gentler climate?
Good to see you back Liz, it must be hard to settle in after such a wonderful adventure. I really enjoyed going along virtually!
Hope everyone has a good day.

It is much too late for morning coffee but thought I'd make a quick run thru the kitchen any way.

Wanted to welcome all the new members who have started posting recently. And add Happy Birthday wishes to all those I missed during my near 6 weeks absence.
I am still working on catching up on the posts.

Situation with my sister is still not improving much. It has only been just short of 6 weeks since she lost her husband of 40 something years. I'm trying to be patient and just take care of those things she cannot yet do for herself. Still very difficult for me to imagine a woman these days not having any information on financial status, how to pay bills, or even balance a checkbook. Thought we had actually made a bit of progress last week but now appears that was wishful thinking on my part. Situation got worse Sunday afternoon when her youngest daughter (in her early 40s) had to be taken to hospital. Apparent overdose on prescription drugs. She is still in ICU but improving.

It's good to be back on line and among friends who are less demanding than the rest of my world these days. Hope to be able to get back here on a more regular basis for a while anyway.

Good afternoon everyone. I had to rush out the door this morning for jury duty so couldn't stop by to send morning greetings but I am here now. The weather is good, the sun keeps peaking out and it's in the high 60's with no rain, and for that I am thankful.

It sounds like everyone is getting back into the swing of things. Right now I am just taking things one day at a time due to the jury duty ~ I have to call again tonight to see if I have to show up tomorrow.

Anyway, just wanted to drop in and say hi and see how others are doing.

Hey Soos!!! You need to get yourself a sound machine. I have one and I love the thing. It has different sounds you can use and listen too. My favorite is called "Summer Night". It is the sound of a creek, peepers and frogs. When I turn it on, it knocks me out. But they have other sounds on there too, ocean waves, rain storm, heartbeat, etc. It runs on electric or battery. Or you could get a relaxation CD and play that. They have different ones with different sounds.

OPPS!!!   i forgot to say HELLO SISTAHS! i just done jumped in there and started flapping my fingers. ;)

Here they are, Mitch---my alarm clocks!

Image

They are all battery operated but the round one second from the left which is a wind-up one.

The one on the far left runs well, and the alarm works. I haven't figured out how to shut it up yet!

The round wind up one keeps time if I wind it, but the alarm is not dependable----sometimes it goes off, sometimes doesn't.

The next neat, fold-up battery-operated model keeps time, but alarm does NOT work.

The cat with the bugle works perfectly-----it plays a bugle revilee at ear-piercing volume, and a man shouts, "WAKE UP---RISE AND SHINE" until you manage to figure out where in heck you are, and how to shut it off! My daughter threw this alarm clock across her room more than once when she was in high school, and yet, it still works!

The last one on the right keeps great time, and the alarm goes off if I can figure out how to set it each night!

So there you are! My alarm clock menagerie! Each one has its own little quirky thing! Can I sleep in peace, knowing I will be waked in time to go to school? Hmmmmm....!!!! THAT is the question!
