Lenora, wow, what a beaty. What year is she again? What is that on the wall behind the stove - it looks different than the other walls? Some kind of easy to clean surface?

Kellie, it's a 2004. The walls are the normal RV white paneling, I guess, although it is shiny so probably easy to wipe clean. I'll let you know how easy it is to clean once start using that area.

Today I did run the generator with the furnace going. When it got too hot I shut it off and turned on the AC. That really bogged down the generator and after a couple minutes the AC turned off. I didn't pull the RV out of the storage stall so the exhaust was coming in to the Rv and the smoke detector went off about the time the AC shut down. I checked everywhere to make sure nothing was on fire, though! After that the AC didn't want to start. I'll have my SIL check it out for me. I think the generator hasn't been run like it should have. It only has 28 hrs on it, and for a 2004 I'm thinking that's way too low! Not sure how to remedy that, though.

I also turned on the gas and lit the burners on the stove. They work fine, but I coulldn't get the oven to take. Perhaps there's a pilot light that needed to be lit? Something else for my SIL's list. I bought new windshield wipers, too, for him to put on.

Yepper, probably (most likely) there is a pilot light. On my oven it takes a contortionist to bend over, peer way to the back of oven,... light the torch,... then push knob in and turn to "pilot on" and .... finally have a pilot lit. But then it's all good after that and once the whatever is out of the oven all the agony is forgotten in the yumminess!

See! That's one of the things a good manaul would have told me, whether or not I needed to light the pilot light. I went to Gulf Stream's website and I'm not finding a place to email to ask about getting one. Nor is anythin turning up doing an online search.

Lenora,... does your oven knob have the words "pilot on" ? then farther along on the knob the temperature settings?

I can't recall if the word pilot is on it, but do recall the temp settings. Seems like it said, lite, like the other burner knobs say.

I was looking at your pictures again and it looks like you have ducted air. If you didn't get any instructions for it I will tell you what I was told. There are some sliding vents by the return air filter. You can open them to quickly cool off the area but don't leave them open or it will freeze up the air conditioner because they are so close to the return air. On my thermostat there is a mode button that brings up cool, furnice, fan and heat strip. You may or may not have a heat strip in your air conditioner. Heat strips can be added to the air conditioner. More money. lol Being in South Louisiana that is usually the only heat I use. I don't like the furnaces. In my previous motorhomes after they warmed the RV they would blow cold air until they shut off and then wouldn't start again until it was too cold. I haven't even tried to run the one I have now. If I ever plan to go somewhere I might need it I would get it checked out first.

Did you try going to the mfgs of the appliances to see if you get manuals there. Look for the plate in each one that has the model number and serial number. I don't know if you can register as a new owner so you will get notified of recalls. They might track new owners down through the vehicle registration but it would take a while. Every motorhome I have owned has had one or two recalls on the refrigerators. On the web site for RV Net forum there is a post at the top of the Class C posts for appliances that have a fire hazard. That post might be in every site, I didn't look.

I agree with Lori. I use my oven to store pans and bread. I use my small toaster oven for everything else. And yes, you probably have to light a pilot light.

Won't the pots and pans make allot of noise rattling around in there when on the road??

That is where the extra towels get packed (around and between pots, etc.... or you can get the non slip drawer lining stuff and just cut pieces to fit as you need then between pans and pots and lids......

i use that stuff cut in squares to roll my real glass wine glasses in. then lay them on their sides. works well.

Lenora, even in a 5th wheel things shift & rattle around.. I just don't know they do until we're stopped..... but, using the non-slip liner or towels works great.....there's only my bread in the oven....pots & pans under the sink.....
