Interesting. If you use low heat to melt the wax, the paper won't burn and then it'll be part of the starter??? No? ??
Crayons are still made of wax? Or some new synthetic stuff?

Cool idea.

I can understand how to light the tp or pt holders because they are cardboard, same with the egg carton, but how do you light a crayon or pine cone?

Think about a candle. Or a pan of grease on the stove...

This might help: http://www.howstuffworks.com/question267.htm

GGGGGRRRRRRRRRR, I understand that,, my question is what acts as the wick in the crayon, I'm assuming the actual pinecone is the wick in that case,,, Is the paper on the crayon the wick is that what you were saying? I'm having one of those moments when things are hard to grasp,,, maybe if I shut off the Home Dude's tv it would help but that would be a whole new "ball of wax"!

Thanks! now I have to try this. I've used ends of candles before but not actually made something with lint. I have a bag of it. I keep a walmart/hannaford/whatever! bag by my dryer, clean the trap every use and put the lint in the bag to throw away. Now i won't throw it away! I'll make it work for me!

Oh, quit growling at me!

You are supposed to melt wax when candlemaking, if at all possible, with an electric heat source, rather than an open flame. The wax will ignite when at a certain temperature and exposed to flame - no wick involved (different temps for different wax and I have no idea what any of them are...). There is no open flame with electric. I have an old fry-daddy type thing I would use to melt wax, if I can ever find any!!

 Kellie, are you serious?? Crayons? HUH!

I washed all the towels and wash clothes I bought yesterday and the lint trap was chocked full of lint (think I could have made a dish towel with it all!), Anyway, it made me think of you gals and the firestarters. For a brief moment I pictured myself stuffing lint in an envelope and sending it to guys to help out.

My goodness, you guys are beginning to sound like Stepford Wives making things with lint! But I must confess when I go to our laundry and there is grey lint I make little mice and hide them in strategic places....
