Labor Day Weekend

Postby Cedar518 » Thu Sep 03, 2009 6:04 pm

What is everyone doing for Labor Day weekend,.. and the end of summer? Here's where I am,.. Macomb Reservation, a NY State Campground. Weather is perfect,... no rain in sight. No wind,... just sunny days and cool nights. This is the view from our campsite, the pond is lower, and leaves are starting to turn. Some Canada geese are passing through on their way south.

Image

Little Girl 2 is set up and ready for relaxing. Now that we have been here for a few days it's not as neat as in this picture I took on Tuesday. We'll be here until Sunday.

Image

Here's my camping buddy, Kathy, relaxing in her hammock.

Image

The Girls are with us,.... and each have their own camp chair. That's Ginger on the left and Mitzi on the right. Looks like Mitzi was sticking her tongue out when I took that pic. They belong to Kath.

Image

Rigs are beginning to come in tonight,... so far nobody on the sites immediatly next to us. There are at least 3 sites between everyone for now. They do try to space out the rigs as much as possible.

OK gals,..... what have YOU got going for the weekend?

Love the pictures...it is just too beautiful up there :) I am champing at the bit to drive off but am waiting to find out what my step mother is planning. I spoke with several ladies that provide private one on one for individuals. They are not cheap but less than the big agencies..... Am waiting for a Care Conference to be scheduled with nursing present. I know that she reallt really wants to back to her appt with support...not Assisted Living. The doc at her appt today even spoke about how the smallest UTI infection seriously effect her health and her thinking..... (I saw my Dad's ability to reason go up and down every time he was ill) Anyway while I'm waiting we have another Doc appt tomorrow regarding her broken arm, Saturday - Izzy gets to enter her first Puppy Match :D :D , Sunday - I get to drive an hour and a half over two counties and judge my last 4-H Dog Show of the season :) .....Next week, Ms Blondie is scheduled for her spay and a dental. Her birth'n days are through and everyone will be so much calmer ever 6 months  So...I am being patient for a few more weeks.... but I haven't cancelled my reservations for the PA GTG !!!!! and from there on I plan to be on the move until November...

I spent the afternoon at Herschel's favorite place, Loveland Health Care Center. (He has been going there ever since my father was there in 06-07.) He brought puppy Izzy with him because several of the residents had asked for her, since she hadn't been in for a few weeks. Remi stays home when Izzy comes...I only have so many hands.... It is a small facility of less than 100 beds and the age range is broad and the disabilities and health issues diverse. Herschel has had many of the same friends for the past three years, is always making new ones and has lost many. So everyone enjoy what you can, where ever you can for as long as you can......going down the road or not. It can all be good! We are blessed to have the opportunities that we have.

Well, for Labor Day weekend....in Texas and Oklahoma. Today I am at Choke Canyon State Park south of San Antonio. I don't have a good enough connection to post pics, maybe later. Friday I shall go to San Antonio. Saturday I shall go to Wimberly for the Trade Days. Sunday I shall drive to Oklahoma and be there for a week or so. Hope that you all are safe and careful on the road. Have a great holiday.

We heading out tomorrow afternoon to spend the weekend at a campground about 30 miles from here. We're joining a group of friends who we haven't camped with for about 3 or 4 years so I'm really looking forward to it. My knee isn't completely healed so I'm very glad that my sister is going with us....she has to be my "gofer" Tomorrow morning I have to buy groceries and load the camper and fill it with water. I'm looking forward to a nice relaxing weekend..hope all of you have the same!
My mind works like lightning...one brilliant flash and it's gone.

I believe I'll be at Camp Nasoosie, about 100 yards from where I am sitting right now! Or, possibly at my pond in my leanto for one more campout this year. Either place will be perfect for me and Molly, and Twitch can be happy in his home area instead of the trailer or leanto.

What a beautiful campsite you are in, Cedar! I definitely need to get there next year, for sure. I am still waiting to hear from Sotheby's realtors about that slide-in truck camper on the property they are selling. Must call them back after school today.

Happy Labor Day weekend to all, wherever you may be.

Cannot believe it is already Labor Day wasn't Easter just last week?
We will either be here at home enjoying the weather and trying to remember to do all the last minute things - or - on the road someplace between here and Vegas discovering all the last minute things we forgot - thank goodness for Wal*Marts everywhere. We're making the trip to Nevada to register Jennie (that's our official home state" - see at least one of our kids (the one who lives in Vegas) and then back to IN to get ready to leave for Mexico in November. But we're not going to rush. We're taking the northern route this time - usually we go over I-40 - No scenery that way. Have a friend who is going to stay in the house while we're gone. She'll stay here during the winter too.

The emphasis for me this Labor Day is LABOR. We're going to be full, including cabins and tenters. Its usually the cabin people and the tenters that cause me the most work on housekeeping. I fully expect the mens' bathroom to be trashed as usual. Can you tell I'm really, really ready to hit the road. Six months in one place is waaaay to long - will probably not ever do more than 4 in the future. Am working on a hosting job in the redwoods of California for next year. Haven't been to that area since I was a kid and that was a LONG time ago.

Looking forward to the balloon festival in December. Including me, have four rigs coming. COME ON LADIES - aren't there any other brave souls out there. Great photo op and you might even score a ride.

Staying home over the weekend because of people traveling to the beach on Rt 50 There is alway a traffic backup. I will join my family at the ocean on Wed.

Carol can't wait for you to get back home from Vegas. I didn't want to nag Bill but hoping he will find more projects for Jenny after traveling. :D

Safe travels everyone.

Good morning, all. We're still camped on Lake Norfork in Mountain Home until Tuesday, using our friends pontoon boat, visiting and playing tennis. Karen, thought you were looking with a friend to work in New Hampshire next year? But the Redwoods are beautiful-you can't go wrong there. Not much else going on here. Did anyone read about the guys who got into it at a hometown rally and one got his pinky bit off?? This debate is definitely getting hot. The guy whose finger gotten bitten off is against the Health Care bill, BUT isn't against using his Medicare insurance to fix his finger. OK, enough politics for one day-I'm going to go sit outside, contemplate nature and read a book. carold

Wish I was there in that spot next to you, Cedar...like last year. Instead, like Soos, I'll be camping in my own front yard. Youngest dd & family & friends will breeze through to spend the night tonight before heading for Disney Saturday. I'll sleep in the RV and let all them have the house. I'll cook a big breakfast for them all tomorrow. Oldest dd & family will come tomorrow to spend the day...we'll have a chicken bbq, swim in the pool, relax. I've been home a week now, cleaning the rv, cleaning the house, having the car serviced, making appt. for rv service, etc. etc.

Don't travel anywhere on a holiday weekend; too crazy out there on the hiways. Staying home and saving my pennies for a trip to AZ next spring.

Judging from the pictures and posts, not exactly sure why it's called LABOR DAY. carold

It's 'Labor' Day at my house....I'm PAINTING!!! Judging from the people at the hardware store this morning, many other people have the same idea. This week-end it's my kitchen, then living room, not sure after that. It looks great so far, will post pics when finished. :)

Re: travel on L D....so many, many people come to our area, the highways are a zoo. I try not to out on Memorial Day, 4th of July or Labor Day. Next week after everybody goes home, I will be camping at local high elevation lake, pretty much on my own. Oh the joys of retirement!!!!!!

We are staying put this Labor Day weekend. Ron has to finish up a plumbing job in the morning and then we are tackling the laundry - why does it seem like we are always doing laundry????

We are trying to put the final pieces together for our trip - we leave in 14 more days! First I have jury duty for the next two weeks and need to try to squeeze in some work before we head out the door.

Take care everyone and have a safe weekend no matter what you are doing?
