SOGGY SATURDAY WITH MORE MICE

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

SOGGY SATURDAY WITH MORE MICE

Postby Nasoosie » Sat Aug 29, 2009 7:08 am

GOOD MORNING TO EVERYONE!

It's way warmer out there this morning----56 degrees---and we have two more mice to take far away. I am beginning to think that maybe we aren't taking them far enough! This morning I will drive them to the far header, way down and to the left of the front property, not too close to the leanto, either, as I don't want them nesting in my bed there for the winter.

It rained hard all night, sounding nice on the trailer roof. I woke up early, at dawn, and decided to snooze a bit longer---the bit longer turned into an hour and half later! Molly woke me up growling and huffing at a deer who came in the yard to check on the apple tree. So now, after my morning coffee message, she and I will take the Kicker in a new direction for releasing the critters.

As it's probably going to rain all morning, I guess I will have to bite the bullet and take the truck to Price Chopper in Lake Placid to get some groceries. As I mentioned somewhere in here, I have filled the truck's gas tank only twice since school got out! Last time I filled up was in Allburgh, VT, where gas is 10 cents per gallon cheaper than here in NY. My Pricechopper card allows me a huge discount per gallon when I have amassed enough money on it from shopping there, and I believe I can fill up this morning for at least 1.00 per gallon less than usual.

I have pretty much decided to do my own winterizing on the trailer again this year, as I did have success last year. I should be a pro at it now! HAHAHAHA! After I do dishes in the trailer this weekend, I will drain all the water from everywhere, including hot water tank, pump, all pipes, and all tanks. I use a little air compressor that seems to work just fine. Then I put antifreeze in all the traps and toilet for the winter. When I go to KOA for the last campout, IF I do, I always carry water and use only their electricity and cable TV while there. I may pass that up this year as I still have so much to do right here before the snow flies. Seems to me their last weekend is Labor Day, and that will be only too soon.

What's keeping me going is the knowledge that after next June, I won't have any constraining schedules to keep any more! Retirement here I come!!!

I ordered my digital game camera yesterday----got a good deal of 20.00 off from Gander Mountain with free shipping. That old analog film camera just doesn't cut it for me any more, as you have to develop the film to view any pics on it, and most of the time the pics were no good for whatever reasons. Then you have to scan them to share them on your computer. This digital one comes with an SD card and tons of internal memory. I can't wait to try it out!

Glad to see that Carolina Gal, Carol, made it safely, albeit, ruluctantly, home! I know how that feels after such a wonderful adventure as you and Liz had this summer! I hope little Maggie can relax now, too, in her home environment. Molly sends her feel-food licks.

I hope this day finds you all comfy and cozy somewhere, and that you stop in for coffee and let us know what's going on. Coffee is hot and Hazlenut, as usual, and choose your own flavor of creamer. I need to get some more flavors of coffee when I shop today.

Off we go for mouse releasing! Hope you all have a good day!
Life is about learning to dance in the rain
Happy travels!

LOL - you can't retire because you'll go broke from all the gas you'rs spending on The Mouse Relocation Program! Man, I think the mice would be winning the war if you were still nursing achey-breakey ribs...

Good morning Soosie and all our sisters!

Dreary a.m. here too. Must be TS Danny's fringe. I'm doing laundry, and will do housework today. Went for groceries last night. (80+ miles round trip) Was worth the trip tough as Kath and I went out to dinner at our favorite Chinese restaurant.

The tax bills are all out in the mail. Whew.

Sorry to hear that you will be winterizing your camper this weekend, Soos! I won't do mine until after Columbus Day weekend as I have two more trips yet. I leave Tuesday for 5 nights at a favorite place, Macomb Reservation. I look at it like it's a "time share"... haha.... I spend about two weeks there every year. This year it will be 15 nights.

OK,..time to get the first load into the dryer,... Hope it warms the house up some, I'm wearing long jeans, heavy socks and a shirt with sweatshirt over it. Brrrr.... don't know the temp this a.m. but it's rainy and damp which doesn't help.

Hope everyone has a wonderful day!

well good morning ladies
it was an uneventful night although the dogs woke me up a couple times and I had to
shush them so as not to disturb daughter upstairs. I chose to sleep on the sofa down
by the dogs kennels so they would know I was still there. Got up early and sat out
on the patio enjoying my coffee and seeing the stars while dogs sniffed around
the yard. There is one bush (tree) in the yard and Bandit came to me wanting some
sort of attention that he never does, and lo and behold, he had a tick hanging on his
neck. Took care of the tick, making sure I got the whole thing, and yep, he came off
with hair and tissue in mouth. Bye bye tick. Checked the girls over and they were fine.
AC guy is going to show up about 9ish, so I best get my butt over there so I have time
to get a few things done while its cool out and can air the place out.
Have a great day and be safe.

Morning, all.................raining here, too.....and doesn't look like it will get out of here much before tomorrow morning.... :( :( We're going to a "Crab Feed' today...so glad they have a BIG Pavillion there... ;)

Soos, maybe you should "re-think" the mice re-location program... ....marking them with, as you said you've done in the pass, with nail polish....or a more "permenant" solution maybe called for....just a thought.... ;) We now use DECON ...had a big issue a few years back....even accidently re-located a mouse to Florida 1 year in the bottom of a golf bag.... and I swear he found his way back to PA.....

Okay, I'm off to read what you all are up to.....

Have a great day, all............

Good Morning all from a cool perfect morning, what a treat for August.
OK Mitch I'm lovin your funny mouse and now I have to know, does a Mac computer have this snippy program or is it just on Vista. Also did your draw the mouse or are you a digital 'arteessst'

Soos, I'm with Cedar on the mouses, kill the ickky buggers! I was talking on the phone to my niece last night and saw something on the back of a kitchen chair as I walked over for a closer look it jumped at me! It was a tiny brown frog. I let out a little yell as it surprised me, then the thing was hopping all over my table. DH comes in with a container and captures it but dropped it on the way to the door then accidentally squished it trying to get it back in. Of course all three dogs were helping with the situation.

My niece was really sad as she lost her beloved nine year old Dobe this week. The family was outside playing ball and the dog was having a wonderful time when suddenly she just fell over. After a couple of minutes she got up and went into the house to her bed and within moments died. She had Addisons disease and had been taking several medications. My niece thinks her heart was compromised by all the drugs. It's strange how many dogs seem to have this disease now.

Ava sure hope your A/C gets fixed, you are like my DH who also waits until something absolutely quits before fixing. Me, I hear a bad noise and I want the repairman here NOW especially with the AC. Cold I can tolerate better than heat.

BJ, I don't know a thing about Macs. But since they're so graphically oriented, I'd guess they have something similar, if not better.
And, I'm no are-teest, that's for sure. I do stick people at best! :)

Morning All from smokey CA......there's a fire burning in Yosemite and with NO breeze, seems like all the smoke is sitting on us.
Oh and it's hot, good luck Ava with your AC, mine isn't on yet, but will need it soon to filter out some of the smoke!

Just finished making 'breakfast pizza' for my nephews. Grandma had meeting today, so they are with me. Later we will go swimming and then decide what to do for dinner. Actually it's usually non-stop eating for those guys. Wow can they burn the calories!

Hope you all are having a fun Saturday!

Hang in there Soos, I'm with you on relocating the mice. My daughter had several pet mice and a pet rat when she was young. I really don't mind the little cuties if they weren't so destructive.

Weather here in New Mexico is still in the 80's during the day and 50's at night. I have till Sept 30th then I'm off to Deminig for a few days to visit with Cheeriogirl then home to Texas till I go back to Gallup for the balloon festival. I'm ready to leave - six months is too long for me to be in one place but I do like the money I've saved this summer.

Hope everyone has a good day.

I slept in this morning. The weather turned almost Fall-like and that makes me want to hibernate..... and eat! :o I made a pot of soup that sure tasted good. I did use my new toaster oven this morning to toast my whole grain English muffin, ate it with honey. Yum!

We got a few sprinkles yesterday but that's it. Our rains will start soon enough and continue for months, so I can wait.

Speaking of mice. I generally catch about 1/2 doz. under my kitchen sink (it's where I keep my garbage can), but after moving one of my chairs in the living room I noticed a hole in the floor made for running the TV cable at one time. Around the hole was some mouse droppings so I'm assuming that's their route. I didn't have any steel wool, so I rolled up some tin foil and put that in the hole. We'll see if that keeps them at bay.

Fingers crossed as I await word on an RV I saw for sale!! It's a 2004 Gulfsteram BT Cruiser. Anyone know anyting about these? It has low mileage, new tires & a generator. It says 22 ft but I did a search online and found some for sale saying they were anywhere from 22-24 ft. so not sure the length exactly.

Enjoy your weekend, everyone!

About the mice.... I know Twitch isn't going to like this but it may be time for a younger mouser that hasn't retired...... most of the mice I see around here have been dead..... If I am lucky they are left in plain sight....if not, they have crawled under the couch and I have found them by smell

Sorry to hear about your families Dobie baby..... Two things that you daughter probably is already aware of. Many Dobes are prone to cardiac issues with or without Addisons. And when my English Cocker Spaniel had Addisons years ago, we almost lost her to heart failure several times before it was fully diagnosed and she was under treatment. I think that the condition itself is very hard on the heart....

And on the plus side of the day! I have a BT Gulfstream, 22 ft.... When I was looking I also saw a used one with the bathroom across the back and the kitchen in a small L shape to the left side between the bath and the sofa. Gulfstream isn't known for top of the line, but then you shouldn't have to pay top of the line money. As I've stated I like driving it (8ft wide) and if fits in most parking lots with care. I do have a good back up camera...that was part of my negotiations as were the electric steps... Check to see if it has a spare. Mine did not, though you can negotiate on that too! PM me if you have any questions....
