crap!!! My ac is broke, the fan won't kick on and its hot, gonna have to go hang out
somewhere cool. There is NO money to get it fixed. I'll try and keep up on the forum
from time to time when I can get on the computer, I do have a few options, the library
has computers and there are computers in the clubhouse but both of those have a limit
as to how much time you can spend on them. Don't know what it is, will find out when
I go there. In the meantime, hold down the fort and don't forget to open the kitchen
in the morning, at least somebody get the coffee going.
Computer at work has lots of different filters so not sure if I would be able to access
the website from work but I'll sure try it on Monday.

frickin people on the computers in the clubhouse, its clearly posted there is a 30 minute
limit, and they have been on there for hours. Not only do I have no ac right now, they
came and put my mpower electric meter and box in and now its all metered by the pay in advance scan card. Guess no ac will save me some money, how ironic. The instructions said there is $30 loaded on the meter and to go scan the card right away.
So I go down to the grocery store to do that and wouldn't ya know they don't have my
card(s) in the system yet. Will have to rush down on Monday to scan that money into
my card and hopefully NOT run out of electricity! This is so weird for me, the thought
of running out of electicity is blowing my mind. It also means no more all day video
games or just watching tv for whatever, once I get used to this new way of doing the
electricity it might be a different story, time will tell.
But I'm still upset about my a/c on the fritz

..

No A/C in AZ? That's gotta be hot. Do you have a somewhat handy friend that can take a peek? Not a blown fuse, right?

What's with the pre-paid card for electric? I have never heard of that before. How you supposed to know what it's running low - just wait until your fridge goes off????

As far as the time on the computer - don't you know the time limits only apply to others, not to THEM...

You're having a rough summer. Sucks.

Mitch, the box that plugs into the wall and you feed the card into has a digital display.
It keeps track of how much you used today, yesterday, last week, etc. It also gives you
your $$ amount you have available and if it gets close to be used up it beeps and a
light comes on. They give you two cards, and you can preload both of them at the
store so if you get to running low you have an extra card to quickly scan it in there.
They came out with this device several years ago here in the valley, and I'm sure
other parts of the world have a similiar thing.

Its 99.7 degrees in here, do ya think its hot?!?! windows are open, ceiling fan
is on, fantastic fan is on, floor fan is on, yep, burnin up that prepaid electric card
(although its really not funny) I'm just trying to keep a good mindset, so I have to
chuckle.

Ava, this is scary in that horrid heat. Thank heavens for your daughter! I hope they can get your AC up soon, for both you and the 4-footers. And prepaid electricity seems tortuous---why did they just begin this now? Perhaps the need for everybody to run ACs all summer has taken a toll on them, or something?

DANG! Gotta get you cooled off soon. What will your poochies do when you have to go to work with no AC?

I will be very glad when you begin work full-time again, and can afford things you need to live a sane life. In the meantime, stay wet and under the fans!

First I've heard of prepaid electric, although I'm not surprised by it. It might work out ok, if it means you can see just what you're using and sometimes lessen it. Although it probably won't make a difference. Like now - you need your air conditioner even if it means a higher bill. It's the reason I've splurged on an rv park for 2 nights - as 100 degree days were hot. But at least out west, it cools off at night. I forgot what summer was like, as I never had 100 degrees in Alaska.

Thank God for your daughter. I can't see you without ac this time of year in Az. Bless her heart and I hope the serviceman gets there quickly.

Hopefully it's just something simple and inexpensive like a relay or the t-stat. If it's gonna be the whole unit or the compressor, you might look into getting one of those portable water coolers. They work pretty well in a dry climate and aren't very expensive. BF has one for his toy trailer when he's out in the desert camping. I live in a pretty dry area and don't have A/C, just a water cooler on the roof and even when it gets up into 110 or so keeps the house at 75-79 which is more than cool enough for me.
Only Irish coffee provides in a single glass all four essential food groups: alcohol, caffeine, sugar and fat.

Oh Ava I feel for you. Especially if it comes to the worst happening. I had my AC, furnace and water heater all go this spring, talk about a money crunch! That's why I've been a home body this summer. Hope all goes well. Maybe looking into another AC possibility would a good thing, as it would be on sale at this time of year. Hope all works out for you. Linda

OMG, Ava, hope you get it fixed soon. Put a block of ice in front of one of those fans to help cool you down.

Ava, what about an update on your AC. Since it started working, has it continued? Did the RV repair guy show up yet?

well............as I feared this morning, it quit, when I was doing the morning post it was
so noisy it sounded like a helicopter hovering over the rv. I knew as soon as I was done
with my morning run that I'd better go home and check on it and the dogs. Sure enough,
it was done and I packed up the dogs and their kennels, woke up daughter and ran over
to her place. Mind you the rv was really hot inside, didn't have time to cool the car down
very well and I was literally dripping wet sweating. First thing she said to me....MOM, YOU
STINK! and threw the deodorant at me,
She called her friend and they went over to look at it, I called work and told them I'd be
late back and swapped out a couple of runs so that I didn't miss any time today. The real
ac repairman will be there first thing in the morning. In the meantime the dogs and I are
camped out at "dd" and enjoying the cable tv :D
However, its so hard to keep an eye on the dogs, they are so nosey, Bandit has to wear
his boyband, which he hates, (oh well, get over it) and poor pixie being half blind is
walking in to stuff, at least she isn't trying to run and play like a fool. (that would be
Gracie, the fool) and with the big flight of stairs I have to watch that "fool" very carefully
so she doesn't think she can fly.
Daughters computer sure is nice, hooked up to fulltime internet, very fast, and she put a
user name on for me so I could use it. User name says "MOM"
The service call is going to be $60 and then each hour after that I think she said $90. Although she is paying for it, I'm sure I'll payfor it myself in the long run...she will more
than likely tack it onto the end of my loan on the rv. Bless her for doing that!!
Hopefully tomorrow we will find out if the ac is fried or just needs something simple.
Stay tuned :D

Fingers crossed for you, Ava----sure hope the guy can fix it. Am very glad you have a cool place to hang out until you are back up and running again. Good thing you went home to check, as poor pups might have cooked to death in there! Heat is scary! Gimmee my frosty mornings any day over that! At least I can wrap up against the cold.
