Sorry I been absent..

I have been really busy sorting through stuff that we have in our storage unit and our basement. It is amazing the stuff that collects over 10 years. It use to not be a big deal...I would not end up with lots and lots of stuff....when DH was Active Duty military we moved every 2-3 years..so it was easy to purge things.

I have been on a major declutter kick and even shredding piles of paperwork that I don't really need to keep...like why do I need phone bills and cable bills and such for the last 10 years. If anything was needed for Tax items..I have it in the tax file for that year. Plus I have realized that I have too much stuff...stuff that I have been keeping...because I might just need it someday. I think that comes from the "financially leaner years"..for the most part now if I really need it again I can just go and buy it...now granted most of it craft, sewing type things.

So what I have been doing is checking email in the morning then getting off the lap top...you see I have this bad habit..if I check more then email...I spend 1-2 hours checking and reading all the boards.

I can official say I am now not a saver and keeper of all.

Kris,
good to hear from you! You mentioned on one of your last posts that you were cleaning out stuff. Sounds like you are doing a thorough job of it. The trick is to keep it up! ;) Take care!

That's my problem too,.... but what the hey,... I guess I can do it. I don't have the family and hectic life that you do. It all keeps me company. :D Congrats on the de-cluttering!

Yep, remember those "moving every 3 years" days when Hubby was active duty..... Good training for being a full-timing RVer.... ;) I've cleaned out twice this summer and will probably do it one more time by our go date of Oct. 1st....heading to GA for the winter....

Glad you checked in Kris....keep in touch!!

CONGRATS on the decluttering, Kris! Makes me realize that my half-hearted attempts have been even less than that---I get carried away reading stuff I have saved and resave it! Then I discover hours have passed and my throwaway pile is either non-existent or teeny tiny! Sigh----a hoarder I surely am, although I KNOW I can now burn my tax records and files from 30 years ago! And the baby clothes I am saving are getting mouse-eaten before any grandkids I might have ever show up. I did manage to eliminate my mother's clothes I took from her house after she died in 1980! I did this just last year! Amazing how hard it is to part with stuff like that----you start reminiscing and put them back for another time. After determining that, even though I managed to lose enough weight to get into her things, I have never worn a single thing, I gave them to a Good Will place......crying all the way, of course.

Good to hear from you!

Isn't it amazing what can accumulate after a short period of time? I would purge before each move and it would seem like no time had passed at all and I would have too much stuff again. A room or area at a time and it won't be so bad. Good luck de-cluttering. Linda
