New In Town

Come on in and say hello.

New In Town

Postby Forestgal » Wed Aug 26, 2009 8:47 am

Hello all!

I've been a lurker here for a long time, and thought I ought to just bite the bullet and join. Well, here I am. :) And I'm following the rules, too! My first post!

I live in southern CA. I have a small travel trailer and get away as often as I can. I'm still working full time, so my getaways are restricted to weekends and holidays. Not enough, in my opinion! But I've been a camper since elementary school & Girl Scouts. The little Susie Homemaker my mom wanted turned out to be a regular Tom Sawyer instead. She got over it ...

It's going to be fun being able to participate in the discussions now. I'm looking forward to being part of the group!

Welcome, Forestgal! If you've been a long-time lurker, you'll know this group is friendly, funny, helpful, and supportive. Of course, being nosy, we'll need pictures and more information! :D

We look forward to getting to know you better.

PS: I loved your line, "She got over it." Funny!

WELCOME, FORESTGAL!

I really love your name! Can't wait to meet you on the road and hear lots from you on this board.

This is a great bunch of women who love camping, and from what I've read, only a very few of us ever became 'Suzie-homemakers'!!! (And I am not one of them!)My mother, too, got over it, but I don't think my grandmother ever did!

Happy to have you with us, and looking forward to lots of conversations down the road! Can't wait 'til you can post some pics, too, so we can see who you are and what you have for a rig and what your surroundings are.....picture sharing is like being on a trip with someone, I find. Many women on here have extraordinary picture-sharing skills, like Liz and Beth who shared their Alaska trip adventure with us all this summer.

Have a fun day!
Life is about learning to dance in the rain
Happy travels!

Welcome, Forestgirl!! Glad you've joined us here.....Alot of us started out to be "Suzy Homemaker" then became Tom Sawyer... I like to believe that I was just born in the wrong century and would have fit in wonderful with the folks heading west in the 1800s......... ;) Or maybe I was a gypsy in another life   Anyways, welcome, again...jump in anytime...

Hey, hey, hey! Another westerner! Before long we will have enough of us to have a real grandslam GTG. Welcome aboard from another Tom Sawyer (I inherited it from my mom who always said she must be part gypsy). Hope to meet ya one day on the road.

Welcome Forestgal!

Thanks a bunch for posting your introduction so quickly! We're thrilled that you decided to jump in and join us. Way to GO! I think there are a lot of Tom Sawyers here,... so you are in a good circle of friends.

Glad to have you aboard!

As Carole noted..you read and watched and you STILL decided to join  At least you were warned! Yes, domestic skills can be highly over rated sometimes...... When I am gone, will I ever be remembered for my housekeeping and cooking skills...I don't think so...... But I had an aunt that served as a role model.....she always had time for her kids, family and friends..... and you always knew that you would be welcomed in her home.....

Welcome Forestgal, I too was a lurker before joining and am glad I did. I am far from a suzy homemaker also. Why clean so often when it only gets dirty as often. As Mr. Spock would say, it's not logical.  Again, welcome you made the right choice. Linda
