Mitch - why did you:
But I did go and remove my website address from my info.

We allow you to have your website info and encourage it. There are other forums which do not. Unless you are using it to spam - which you are not -

And, yes, we don't want to lose members just cuz they don't post, but we want active members - even if they sometimes go inactive. All of us will be in the sometimes inactive group at some time or another. That's understandable. But we don't want spammers in here who can get access to all of our email addresses, etc. Cedar has done a WONDERFUL job this summer of trying to find and get rid of all the spammers - and one way to do that is to keep up on the ones who never posted.

Beth, I think Mitch removed her website link for personal security or anonymity. My question is how would someone get email addresses, they aren't posted on our member info page. :?:

They are available through profiles. Only MEMBERS can see profiles. So, it's good to make sure members are legit.

I received "the message" and could think of nothing to write so posted that horrible Mexican Cheesecake recipe. I have had nothing to say since I posted about the baby eagle. I do enjoy reading the forum. Rules are rules and I will abide by them.

And when you just don't want to think of stuff to say or haven't been doing anything exciting....so you think......... And when I really don't feel up to talking to people....I can always just go sit by the campfire and just rest.......

Is it just me? I don't see e-mail addresses in the profiles.

Yes, Tina campfire or morning coffee are great for quick check-in.

Well, I didn't either, that's why I questioned, but Beth said they were there. I checked again, still didn't see it, so I thought I must be missing something somewhere. I only saw where you could do instant messages if you had the same instant message program or you could pm. I'm glad you spoke up, now maybe I'll not feel so dumb.

If you click on the person's name who posted the message it takes you to the member's profile. In the profile there is a section called "Contact ......" If you click on the the "email....." it brings up a screen with a blank email which contains the full email addy.

what i consider an important reason for the participation drive is that we want people to be active,... for the shy folks, a post or two every three months isn't unreasonable. And,.. the good thing is that maybe they will become more relaxed and post even more often. I believe this group is all about friendship and support for each other,... come on, join the discussions. Every person in this group is valuable and really does have interesting things to say! :D

Cedar, I did exactly what you said, just to see if I'm crazy or not, apparently I am! I clicked on your photo, went to where it said "Contact Cedar518", that is not a clickable phrase, next to it is your website which is clickable and PM which is clickable. There is no email, I'm thinking maybe you and Beth have this option because you have Administrative privileges? :geek:

OK, if you have filled your email out in your user control panel - then it is visible to other members. I don't have any problem with any member emailing me, so I made sure I filled it out. If you have not put it in, it will obviously not be there for any of us. But it's safer for those who might want to share it without having to pm, etc - if there aren't spammers, etc on the board collecting them for anything.

Sorry about the confusion.

Beth, I must be having yet another 'thick' moment...here's a screen shot of what I see for your membership.
I don't see your email address.
What am I missing?

I personally use the Snipping Tool which is a part of Windows Vista. Others can use the PRINT SCRN button on their keyboards. Contrary to popular opinion, this button does not send anything to your printer. It puts a screen shot into your clipboard and then you can paste it into a photo editing software, or the Microsoft Paint program (under All Programs > Accessories > Paint).

A third way is to download the freeware program - PrintKey 2000 - which I used for quite a few years before getting this Vista laptop. I LOVE that Snipping Tool. It is just the handiest little thing...

Once you have the screen shot saved somewhere on your computer, just do the regular, old Photobucket thing...

Feel free to ask for any clarification! (I always understand what I type, but it's sometimes muddled to others! )
