No sleep tonight

It is almost 3:00 AM. Too early to open Zees kitchen. What am I doing up? Seem to have lost ability to sleep so on computer again.

Let Nicky out for a few minutes. Sat on porch with him for a while thinking that might relax me. He suddenly took off into dark corner of yard. Next I saw he was trotting back across the darkness with something hanging out of mouth. I thought it was a giant dead rat. Yelled for him to drop it and much to my surprise he did (just fooled me into thinking he was minding). He would not come back to me however; kept circling whatever it was. Finally got him to come by using food; quickly locked him in house. Got flash light, grabber stick, sack and cane. Figured I had to get rid of body or could not let him out later. My back yard is not a great place to walk, especially in the dark as it is not level. Got about 8 feet from critter and it got up hissing at me! D...m opossum - a young one, about 10 to 12 pound size and most certainly not dead! I hightailed (well sorta) back to porch for broom just in case it was rabid and came after me. Fortunately it strolled off and left other side of yard under fence. Now I think Nicky dropped it because it wiggled not because any attempt at training him had taken hold. So much for relaxing on porch too.

Tina: do you train dogs? I'm loosing at being alpha dog here.

Maybe it's something in the air. Was up right there along with you. Also thought about posting but didn't. Guess thats why the saying "playing possum" they are sure ugly creatures. In the middle of Los Angeles no less we had a mom and five babies that used to come up on the patio at night and eat the dog food. Took a while for me to figure out what was going on. UGH!
