Margie, Congratulations on finding a good home for MsBHaven. Just imagine the adventures that she will take her new owner on..... Another woman gets to find her way on new journeys! I have already experienced sitting in by car and answering e-mail while waiting for a meeting........ I think I will enjoy this new freedom and gosh darn it I'm worth it....... as long as I can still pay for gas :D

OMG, girls, I'm sitting at my gfs house and have great coverage with the antenna. Earlier today I could only get 3-4 bars in the bedroom and nothing in the den. Tonight I tried the den again and here I am. I have 2 bars but it's not as slow as I thought and at least I can get on line. Before the antenna, I couldn't even get access in this park at all. I still can't get cell coverage unless I'm in her back bedroom standing in one particular location which suc?s.

Just thought I would give you a report. I'm a happy camper.

Isn't having that antenna wonderful!!! ;) We've had ours for 3 years and always get signal for the air card when we can't with the cell phone....depending on the cell phone...you've got to have the adapter plug on it....you can also get an external antenna for the phone....Motorola cell phones are the ones we've had that can use external antennas...we also have a wireless router for the air card as we have 2 laptops and use the 2nd one every once in awhile....and will share with others at times..... Enjoy!!!

I have the AT&T version of the same thing. Sunshinecruiser...I'd love more info on the antenna booster. The cg I was at in NC earlier this month was a dead zone for cell and air card. They had satellite Wi-Fi and allowed 1 hour free per day. Any more than that you had to pay. Don't know if the antenna booster would have helped or not but I'd sure be interested in trying.

Ava: Why are you paying for aol? They offer free e-mail so you can have a non-paying account and still keep your e-mail address. I dropped my paid account several years ago and the only difference I've noticed is that one can no longer get on-line support (think I only used that once anyway and had the account more than 15 years). There may be a few other differences but it is worth looking into the differences with potential to save the $17 something per month.

what??????????????????????
aol email for free?????????
I'm confused now for sure, how does one access the internet without paying for it??

Ava and anyone else still using AOL - if you can get rid of it entirely - and get ALL AOL off your computer, your computer will probably run much faster. It is a memory HOG.

That said, yes, I'd recommend you going with an aircard over the dialup and any other service. If you get cell service in your area, the air card will work as well as dialup - not as well as high speed, but sometimes seems close.

I don't use the aircard, but use the data on my AT&T cell phone - works basically the same. I love it. And the vast difference of service now from 4 years ago when I started out is unbelievable. Montana sucked, but I even had good service in most of Canada (tried not to use it - international rates) and better service in AK than in parts of the lower 48 (Montana lol).

I need the data to my phone, so this is cheaper than having a separate aircard for me. And I love it. That said, right now I'm using wifi. While I install the AT&T communications manager on my new computer (I'm typing on the old) so that it can use the phone. Will probably post about this pain in the butt lolol

Ava, I just re-read your posts....and yes, once you have the air card..you can dump your AOL account....Verizon wireless is ours....we use Firefox for home page, but still use the Internet Explorer every once in awhile....Yes, you can still use AOL as your e-mail...and it is free from what I understand...Beth is right about AOL making computers run slow...cause they store too much info there...but the e-mail should be all right....

Ava, you can keep your AOL email and NOT have an paid account with them. You can get on the internet with your dial-up provider - you just can't use the AOL browser. Get something like Google Chrome, Firefox, or Internet Explorer to use as your brower.

Here is the info for the antenna and adapter. I went to the Verizon store and got it there but they had to Fed Ex it to me, got it in 2 da. It plugs in the side of the white USB modem. You have to buy the antenna and an attachment that the antenna plugs into and that attachment fits into the modem. Model Number WINDMINIANT 32-0062-02-VW and PCCAB-727 32-0057-01-VW Antenna Adapter hope this helps.

It gets you more bars. I don't have aproblem in Nashville, of course, but in some places outside of metro areas, less bars means slower response time. The antenna just makes it faster because you hav emore bars.

Ava, if you're going to be on the road much you should think about dumping AOL. I use Yahoo mail so can access my email anywhere. With AOL I believe you have to have access to AOL which can limit you. Yahoo Mail is accessible from any computer anywhere.
