After a whole six months of living in a---house---I'm planning to get back on the road the end of the year. Well, actually next weekend, to be exact. Figured that since Oklahoma is so close to Dayton, Ohio, I'm driving the motorhome 700 miles there to see my brother and his family whom I haven't seen in a long time. There are new spouses and kids I've never seen. After a week there, it will be back to Amazon.com up in Coffeyville, KS to work from Aug. 30 through Dec. 23. This time I WILL NOT be working as a picker and walking (stumbling?) 7-10 miles each night. Instead, I've requested something in shipping or receiving instead. Can't turn down the chance to make quite a bit of money in a short period of time. Bought some expensive MBT shoes and love them. Got to get used to them being kind of heavy, though. Since Coffeyville is so close to Bartlesville, OK, I'll park the RV there in the campground and drive back and forth for my three days off - check on things here and so forth. Quite a few friends from last year are also returning, so it will be fun.
After that, I'm hitting the road back to Blythe, CA to stay at Mayflower County Park for a number of months. Can't beat the price of $250/month for a beautiful grassy site with hookups and honey wagon, right on the Colorado River and about 10 miles from Quartzsite, AZ. And, Blythe is close enough to San Diego to visit old friends and relatives once in a while as well. Yeah, it's probably a bit warm there now, but should be beautiful in the winter. And, it's a DRY heat, not the 97% humidity as here the past few mornings. I'm also missing the ocean. Guess it's that old Southern California saltwater in my veins.
Oklahoma has been an interesting experience - lots of good friends and some wonderful volunteer work--I'll miss that very much. But, not the politics, not the weather, and not all the bugs. However, I will miss my inexpensive Oklahoma health insurance.
