GOOD MORNING BARB AND EVERYONE!!!
We had a few thunderstorms overnight, but none got right overhead, for which I am very thankful and so is Molly---neither of us likes lightning. It's overcast, warm at 66 degrees, with possible showers again today. The weekend is predicted to be BEAUTIFUL weather, and I am praying it comes true! It would be fun to have the GTG in the sun.
My friend Laura's father is hospitalized after suffering another mini-stroke. She called to ask if she could stay overnight with me again last night, but then called back to say her father was having trouble breathing, too, and was scared to be alone. So Laura stayed with him last night in the Saranac Lake Hospital. I sure do hope he is feeling better this morning. I'm also very glad he didn't get sick while we were at the bluegrass festival, as it would have been a tear to get her back here to be with him. He is such a nice man, and has just lost his wife of over 65 years...his wish is to join her, and he well may do just that. Laura is trying to remind him how much he is needed by his 8 children and myriads of grandkids and great grandkids. Things like this make being laid up for a month with broken ribs a piece of cake.
I will spend today waiting for old friends of mine to come for supper and stay overnight, and, if possible, maybe I can get them to stay for one more night, if the weather holds out When our kids were young, we spent many fun times together, especially during Winter Carnival, when their home, which was right in the middle of the carnival route, was a comforting place to get warm and stuff our bellies with good homemade food! I have good steak to cook out tonight, and local corn which I will serve with rice of some sort.
Tomorrow I will do my last-minute shopping and setting up of stuff, although I got a ton done yesterday. I am mostly ready for whatever and whoever comes for my GTG this weekend. I need to clip back a few tree branchesin the driveway, put a prop pole under my wires across the driveway so they will clear the tall rigs, and tie the surveyor's tape on the trees at the end of the driveway to mark the spot!
After a final vacuuming of the house today, I will try to get my bluegrass festival pics posted, I promise! As usual, I didn't get very many as I was too busy to settle down and take them....most of mine were taken at the end after most had already left!
Thanks for the coffee, Barbzee....tastes good! I need to read the other posts and get caught up. Hope you all have a wonderful day, doing whatever is fun. I see some sun trying to peek through the clouds---YIPPEEE!!!
Kennedy family is mourning the loss of Eunice today---what an amazing woman she was.
OH-----for those of you with clear skies tonight, the Perseids meteor shower main night is on. Sure hope it clears for that event, as I can lay out in my lounger in the middle of my field and catch the show! Bet that our own Star-Gazing Susan will be out somewhere watching that.
