Bears at Mt Rainier

Postby retiredhappy » Mon Aug 10, 2009 5:48 pm

I just looked at Beth's blog and her bear encounter. Her comment about idiots reminded me that when I lived in Seattle there used :to be a sign at the entrance of Mt Rainier lodge that said:

PLEASE DON'T MOLEST THE BEARS.

Now I don't know about you but I have NEVER had any intention of MOLESTING a bear. I could understand a sign that said, "Please don't FEED the bears" but "Molest". I don't think so. It always amazed me the people who would get out of their car to feed the bear. What about "wild animal" don't they understand?

And sometimes, the bear has to be put down because it's been fed human food...I think the human doing the feeding should be put down - NOT the bear.

I guess they are city folks who just don't get "wild".... usually a bear doesn't want any part of a human unless you are between the mama and baby,.. guess in Beth's case she was parked in the bear's bathroom! All kidding aside, Beth,... so glad you didn't go outside. And that you got the window closed quickly.
