Carold, from the reviews I read on the one I ordered, it said that the oven slides easily in and out from the brackets that hold it under the counter.
Induction cooktop? I'm going to have to google that one! ;)

I'll let you know how it works in real time after I get it. I have a small two burner gas stove top in the short bus, but have it covered to provide counter space and so "stuff" doesn't fall into it. I have never been a fan of gas stoves though I know they are suppose to be good. I love campfires but....not a fan of fire and open flames in general.... I figure that the induction cook top can function inside the camper on the counter or outside on a table..... It's surface does not get hot. It does not draw bunches of electricity and works fast. It only works with stainless steel pans. When I went to IKEA, their pans were all carefully labeled as to which stoves they would work with. It isn't like I need very many!!!

I haven't had a toaster oven in years, but ...... find that after reading this thread I want one again. I'd forgotten just how hand they are. Yes, a tray that extends when the door is opened is a must for me. I just looked at a small crockpot for the camper and will get one for next year. I've already broke the bank on buying things for the camper this year. (carpet, pillows, towels, .... all matching the camper's interior of course! ) so i'll go to a store where i can look at the ovens, and open their doors before i buy.

RE: oven racks that slide when the door opens....we've had both....prefer the ones where the rack stays put when I open the door.....yes, the exterior gets hot....we rarely use the toaster/broiler/baking oven in the 5er....we have a small "Gander MTN" metal camping table which we set up outside under the awning and put the oven on that...plugging it into the outside outlet or running an extension cord to the electrical box using the 110 plug-in.....

It is just too cool, compact, easy to use. It has a crumb tray.

Sunshinecruiser, I'd advise you to try to see this model in person first. They had one on display at my local store and I was excited, at first. I then tried to open the door, which felt like it was sticking. It's the type that the shelf pulls out when the door opens. I worked the rack off the hooks on the door so I could open the oven completely and check it out, then couldn't get the rack hooked back over the hooks on the door. JMHO. ;) :)

My gosh I didn't know there was so much to learn about a toaster oven. I have to admit I've never used one. Bill uses them all the time. We have a big one in the house and a little one in the Alfa. He likes to buy that half baked bread in the market then toast? cook? it in the toaster oven for his sandwiches. Guess I'll go check them out and learn to use them.

I've used a toaster oven for years. It is extremely useful in the RV since I didn't want a combination convection/microwave oven, opting for just a microwave. I use the toaster oven anytime I need to bake anything such as cookies, lasagna, etc. Works beautifully. Latest is a Black and Decker. Tried a Kenmore toaster/convection oven for a couple of months but gave it away because 1) it was way too big and 2) it burned everything.

I haven't made any special trips to the store ...yet....but find myself looking at toasters when shopping for other stuff. :-) I did notice that there are big differences in size! Oh, and price, too! Eventually.....

I tried to respond to this thread one day with a very limited connection - I see my response was very limited also - as in gone LOL

I loved my toaster oven. Since getting the convection oven in here, I got rid of it.

That said, you will never convince me, if I get another toaster oven, to get anything but Black and Decker - cheap model - with broiler. I loved both my Black and Deckers. I hated the Hamilton Beach - and once, I replaced a Black and Decker with a very expensive, fancy Krups - looked great - was a pain to clean and didn't do me as well as my B&D - so I gave it away and went back and got another B&D. LOL

Actually, my criteria when I got the one I had in the rv - was I wanted the smallest one I could find that would fit under my sofa - so actually found one smaller that didn't work cuz it was too high - and that had an easy to clean tray - although I always put a piece of aluminum foil on that tray and then a not easy one wouldn't really matter - just occasionally change the foil - and it had to have the broiler. I used it a lot for that.

I miss my toaster oven - but part of my deal with myself when I got the convection oven is that it meant I could get rid of one not built-in appliance. And it's worked good for me.

Good luck to those of you getting your first toaster ovens. You'll be amazed how much you can do in one.

Do toaster ovens run on the same temp as a conventional? i.e. bake cake at 350 (regular oven), same temp in the toaster oven? ;) Just curious.........
Beth I use to put foil at the bottom of my conventional oven. Tin foil makes for easy clean up in baking, too. I use tin foil to line my pan all the time whether I bake meat or cookies. Such an easy clean-up! :P

My Black and Decker uses the same temperatures - and quite accurately.
