New floor

Postby kelpie » Mon Jun 15, 2009 5:27 pm

i just wanted to show you all the new flooring I had put in Francesca RV a couple weeksbago.nmIn discovered that carpet really wasn't that practical. Here are a couple of before pics

I used a vinyl with self sticking back. It comes in strips 4" x 36" like wood floor. See how good it looks with my cabinets

and then I wanted some shelves in the closet but wanted them removable in case the next owner is a couple and needs the hanging space. Then space was really deep and the brackets didn't come that long so my son suggested putting them the other direction

Hope you like the photos.

Wow. That looks GREAT. You did a wonderful job.

I've been circling the drain about getting rid of the carpet in my MH. I really
like the non-carpet look, but I'm afraid of freezing my ankles in cold weather.
I guess I'll continue to circle. LOL.

Looks good and it is probably easier to keep clean!

For anyone who has traveling friends with paws and/or enjoys hiking and/or needs to get out in all kinds of weather and conditions.....give me easily cleaned floors! I track in as much as the dogs! This way I just grab the broom and swish its gone....

that looks great, I would love to do that!
Now, what was under the carpet when you took it out? wood? and did you have
to do anything to the wood to make the flooring stick? I pulled up one corner of
mine and its wood underneath.

Loved the floor and shelves. Last rig we pulled up carpet and put in vinyl-what a difference-no carpet with spots and dirt. Am planning to do this to our new rig once the carpet gets really bad-and with us, that won't be long. carold

Both the flooring and the shelves look wonderful. Great idea about putting the brackets crossways.

One thing about cold feet on a bare floor,... area rugs. I use a long runner down the center of my a-frame. have a second small rug by the entry door. Something a bit more cozy to put the toes on on chilly mornings.

Beautiful floor!

And just use area/scatter rugs/runners for warm feet, as others have said-----all shakeable and washable with critters on board!

Great job.

Owners before me put in shelves for a cabinet that had only hanging (or other way around). Used the runners on all sides with the different places to put in adjustable shelves - and those little thingies you put in them to hold the shelves. (Like my technical talk). I love it - only use one shelf, and still use the hanging bracket also - but gives me a ton of space for more groceries just with that extra shelf - as closet is very deep, if not very wide. Your idea of running the brackets sideways is good, too - but they might have been too deep even for the width of mine - not sure there.

I'd love to take out my carpet - but would have to take out the linoleum, also - and cut the carpet under the slide, and figure how to end it at my seats to the front, etc - too much work for me - but I still have throw rugs over the carpet - to keep people from seeing how bad it looks. Some day!

You did a great job on both projects.

Cork tiles sound like a great idea. I had sheet vinyl put in and then had to have quarter round installed on the edges. If I ever redo it will definitely check out the cork tiles.

I've heard a lot of good things about a flooring called Allure and saw it at Home Depot, but not installed. If I can find the post I'll post it. carold

Looks great!
If you have ever ripped up old carpet and seen what is under there you'll wonder why anyone carpets! Also less allergy issues with tile or carpet. Since I never walk anywhere without my indoor Birkies on I don't notice any cold. I have all hardwood floors except tile in bathrooms in my house.
