WELCOME TO AUGUST 2009

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

WELCOME TO AUGUST 2009

Postby Nasoosie » Sat Aug 01, 2009 7:17 am

GOOD MORNING, ALL!!

I have to hang my head in shame, as I did NOT remember to say RABBITS, as usual! I woke up at about 2:00 am to check on Molly, and forgot it was August 1st. Sigh----

I know Barbzee is busy with family today, so I'll start the coffee pot!

I took Molly to the vet's last night as her eyes were both swollen shut and she could barely squint at me. It scared me, so when I called the vet at closing time, they said I would be charged an emergency fee if I wanted them to get the doc back for last night, or I could have waited for this morning. Well, I wanted to make sure she hadn't scratched her corneas, or had some horrible irritants in there, so I opted to take her in last night. They put some dye in there and checked for tears and rips in the corneas with an ultraviolet light----no tears, thank heavens. But, whatever is causing the irritation is still not much better this morning. They flushed her eyes out as best as possible without putting her under anesthesia, and gave me drops to put in twice a day----anti-inflamatory and antibiotic. She is almost impossible to hold still enough to get those darned drops in there, but I am pretty sure I got a drop in each eye just now and once last night. One eye looks a bit better, I am hoping, and the other may not be quite as swollen shut. Those third eyelids dogs have are swollen and covering most of her eye area----ghastly looking, and it is really bothering her. So we will be staying close to home and trying to figure out what she got into yesterday. The only time she was alone was when she was in the truck in her hut while I shopped. I sure hope someone didn't spray some sort of irritant in there while I was gone. Other than that, she could have gotten stuck in the raspberry bushes which have very irritating leaves and stems. I won't put her near those today. I hate it when something is wrong with my Molly.

Cedar and I are both home until Wednesday, when we will leave for the Bluegrass Festival in VT. I am planning to mow the grass today when the dew dries off, and I think I am just about ready to hitch up Tuesday night to get an early start on Wednesday morning. It's only about 60 miles, or so, to where I have to go. I am hoping my friend, Laura, who is going with me, will be able to stay over Tuesday night.

It's about 57 degrees, sunny, and predicted to warm up to the 80s today! YIPPEE!!!

Happy August to you all, and c'mon in and tell us about your day! Coffee is through perking now, and ready for the mugs! Later........

Good morning and Happy Saturday!

Soos, sorry to hear about Molly. Could it be an allergic reaction? Isn't it just awful when our 'babies' are not feeling well...I would give anything to be able to take it away from her. Hopefully, she'll get better really quickly!!!

Hope everyone has a great Saturday, including the weather. We have a pleasant 77 degrees, with 82% humidity - almost feel desert-like!!!

I'm so sorry your baby Molly isn't feeling well. Sure sounds like some kind of irritant got into her eyes. Please keep us posted on her progress.

Whatever it is, she is so much better tonight! I kept her inside all day, in the trailer, while I was arranging stuff for the music fest next week. I took her out only on mowed trails to keep stuff away from her eyes. When I got back inside from mowing the lawn, I could actually see her eyes! They are opened up quite a bit, umlike last night when I couldn't even see her eyes. AND she played with her racoon squeaky toy tonight, so I know she is feeling better. I was am so happy to see her feeling better. I put a drop of the meds in her eyes this morning and again tonight, and I will keep doing it for 7 days, as the doc said to do. WHEW.....breathing a sigh of relief! Maybe she is the one who shouted RABBITS this morning!

Thanks for the concern everybody.

So glad Molly is recovering. It's one of those times you wish they could talk so you can get to the bottom of the mystery.
Mitch, I'll let Soos explain her ritual.
