Another tip that was given to me...this is for sleeping at night.

You get an extra sheet...wash it but do not dry it.
Then place it on top of your other top sheet. Then if you have a ceiling fan above the bed turn it on. Or place a fan at the foot of the bed on something that is a couple of feet higher then the bed..and have it blow on the sheet.

I took Vicki's idea of a pan of cool water in front of the fan a step further. I put a block of ice, made from an old plastic container in the freezer, in a bowl in front of the fan. It did help when sitting right by the fan. Also those blue things that you freeze and put in lunch boxes are great for holding around your neck as well. Just a few more ideas to beat the heat Linda

   Sorry Linda, somehow I got a picture in my head of someone walking around with a bunch of those blue things strung together, necklace like, around their neck!

On the two hottest days I did use three blue freezer thingees wrapped in a towel. I put them behind my knees as I sat on the sofa, and put a wet wash cloth on the back of my neck. Also used the wet cloth occasionally on my arms and legs. Felt good with the fan blowing, but evaporated too quickly.

And to think we left the cool NW Oregon coast for the 103 degree East side of Oregon. :? :? Well, tomorrow we continue heading east and south. carold

Heat, what heat?! We've had such cool nights I've run the furnace and daytime temps so cool I actually thought about wearing sweat pants! I feel for all the folks suffering in the southern heat. Here we've had the coolest & wettest summer on record...and we aren't complaining!

It's been so hot and humid here in NE Oklahoma lately that I'd been running the A/C in the house all day long. But after getting the electric bill a few days ago, I decided, the heck with this, and moved out into the RV. Since it's so small, it doesn't take any time at all to cool and it feels so good. In preparation for a trip to Ohio next weekend and for another try at working at Amazon up in Kansas the end of the month, a friend and I moved the heavy TV from the house back into the RV so it was fun watching Netflix movies and reading. I'm used to the DRY heat in Southern California deserts--at least it's possible to sweat and dry off a little. However, I can't get used to this humidity (yesterday morning at 93%) at all. It's so wonderful to have a place to escape to, even if it is only in the backyard.
