Sunshine Friday

Let's start our day with a good morning here.

Sunshine Friday

Good Morning all. Beautiful sunny morning here at the 45th. Chilly 30° though. But heading Into low 60’s.

Reading about planting garden stuff and flowers has me antsy to get at it, but I know it’s too early for some stuff. We can plant perennials now, but annuals and garden goodies need to wait a bit. Shelia, I know what you mean about short growing season. Same here. My Asiatic Lily’s, Cone Flowers and Shasta Daisies are up but no sign of my two remaining hostas yet. I want to move my Shasta Daisies, but need to find out if I can do that now. Just rearranging the flowerbed a bit.

Sandi, hopefully they will get to the root of your hip pain. Doctor might be right about the spine. I’ve had my pelvis slip out of joint a couple tines in the past and it’s painful. But my chiropractor fixed that. Just needed to put it back where it belonged. You might have to start giving thought into finding a different place to live, without so many stairs. It’s something we all face when we get older. Glad Abby’s checkup came out well, but you didn’t mention if the vet found any issues with her leg.

Judy, hopefully the meds work for you. Sounds like you are considering coming off the road. Shirl, glad your Walmart delivery came. Beth, happy you gals found a good eating spot.

I’m dancing for joy here, over the announcement of a new Pope yesterday and an American one besides. Never thought I would see that happen in my lifetime.

On the home front, it has been a busy and sort of expensive week. Got a small leak under my kitchen sink k, so had to call plumber out and decided to get a new faucet since he was coming. Been wanting to do that. Well, turns out, sink connections for sink drains were all corroded, so new sink neded. Now new sink and faucet in kitchen. I love it. While he was here, I asked him to check my well pressure tank as my water pressure could be better. Only 22 PSI whereas it should be 30-50. So new pressure tank getting installed next week. My builder called and said he had the estimates from supplier for new patio door and two windows I had made arrangements for before this other stuff came up, so waiting for him to put it all together and give me the cost. Shed needs new roof too, so getting to be an expensive spring. But will be all new and updated when all is said and done. Also found out last Su day, that my neighbors across the road are moving :( . House is on the market. Hading downstate to be closer to kids. She has COPD and we all know where that goes. Kids wanted them to be closer to help if needed. And they won’t have to go back and forth for special family doings. Hate to see them leave and they will miss it here as they really like this neighborhood and neighbors, his brother lives right across the lagoon from them. But sometimes life dictates otherwise.

So, guess I will get this morning stsrted. Not sure what I am getting into, but will be something. Roofers May come out this afternoon and do mi or repair on house roof ridgeline and bri g shingles for the garsge roof repair from ice storm. Have a nice day all.

Incredibly, I am feeling a little better this morning, no doubt partly because I had a very good night's sleep. At least I have more energy than yesterday. And apparently I shooed the mosquitos that were trying to bite me before they got in a good chomp because I cannot find any bite marks this morning. :D I need to take trash out, and take a look at the Colorado River, but I will do it soon, in the heat of the day. Just cannot wait until dusk.

Got a bunch of small chores to do today, like finding a place to store my motorhome while I am in the UK. Place I usually go to is full, so have to look around a bit more. Also need to find a dentist in Ohio.

Sounds like a lot of work being done, Sue. And I agree that Sheila has had a very difficult job. it is always a problem with trying to clean out someone's house while they are alive, but that means all the stuff keeps accumulating and ends up as a bigger job later!

Hi all,
I took another load to the storage unit this morning. It was hot! 94 already! Although I really like where I live, I hate when it's this hot. By Sunday it should cool down a bit. Nice thing is the evenings/nights are generally pretty cool. And my place stays cool so I didn't need the A/C. I'll aim to get a place with the same exposure when/if I move. Morning sun (filtered through trees) & afternoon shade.

Judy, I can't imagine spending over an hour at urgent care, then going to 2 pharmacies & then having to drive 190 miles to your site. No wonder you slept well! Hope the meds do their trick and glad the mosquitos didn't get you. When are you going to the UK & how long do you stay? Keep us informed on your house hunt.
Sue, gosh that is an expensive week! I miss my old house, but don't miss maintaining everything. I've adjusted to condo living but it took a while. Not sure what I'll find in Encinitas- wish my son had less expensive taste. I will be looking a little inland as Barbie mentioning even just a few miles can make a difference.
Sheila, I feel for you - that's why I'm trying to downsize now. I don't want the kids having to go through too much stuff. My biggest downfall are sea shells. I brought back 5 pounds from France! and have found little collections everywhere as I go through my stuff. Wish I was a creative person - but I'm not- I just like picking them up & keeping them as mementos.
I appreciated the discussion about Walmart membership. I'm close to everything where I'm at right now - walking distance actually - so it doesn't make sense here but maybe later on.
Shirl, glad your order came.
Well, I found another stack of mail for my daughter that I need to go through. I shred anything that are offers for lines of credit (after mentioning them to her) & throw away junk mail. I'm good at doing it as it's delivered now, but a while back, I just stored it for her to look at during her visits. She's going to have enough other stuff to filter thru when she returns - I can at least do this for her.
Take care, Catherine

Sue, Even on my energetic days I couldn't keep up with what you do. But it would probably be better for my health if I could.

I bought a few lavender plants the other day but not enough potting soil. Today I added to them in their new, larger pots and watered them good. That's the extent of my gardening. I'll have to trim and weed around some of my cactus and trees though. I did some laundry and because days are getting hotter I decided to check my Casita ac. Unfortunately it's not blowing cold air. It's a built in small window unit and while I'd like a mini split, financially I'll be sticking with replacing it with much the same.

Found a place to store my motorhome in Napa. Also called a realtor my DIL knows, and told her what I want. I am a lot more specific this time buying than in the past, but this may be my last home, so I want it to be right--single story, two bedrooms, two baths, garage, and small. Told her I will NOT be entertaining, so don't need one of those huge kitchens they build on TV, many of which are bigger than our entire first home when I was first married!! Saw one this afternoon on TV where they spent $300,000 remodeling a kitchen and living room--got to be nuts. If you have money to throw away, give it to grandkids or charity or spend it on travel!!!

Will be going to UK for 6 weeks. I figure there is no sense in going for only a short period of time, since the airline ticket is so expensive. (I am splurging on Premium Economy on British Air. It is a step above coach, but not business class--larger seat with more space, but not a bed. It will be an 11 hour flight from SFO, and I cannot handle being crushed in a seat between two people. Cost ranges from about 20% to 100% more than coach.) Will be headed to London and York, then rent a car in York for 28 days of driving through North Yorkshire, Yorkshire Dales, and then several days in Wales before heading to Cambridge, and back to London. Might dump car at Heathrow before going to Cambridge, however. And I will NOT eat an egg salad sandwich on the train this time--got food poisoning last time! Got a good deal on car rental, and I always eat cheap.

Did almost nothing today and plan to do the same tomorrow, except I might run out for propane and raw honey, which urgent care doctor recommended for thrush. Less coughing today and mouth is less sore, so making progress.

I must be tired as everything I read I've already forgotten
I've was busy and didn't take my Aleve this afternoon I am so knowing it... thought about it once but since it's a 12 med that would have put when I needed the next one really late even after my normal late night sleep time... however I will take it earlier than I have been...
I was up around 9:30 sil and girls were coming around 10 it was a bit later but that is ok... wish I had told her to call me when they were going through Driggs could have gotten another 1/2 hr of sleep.. but I survived... I think a lot got done it looks like it and I feel like I got a lot done as well they brought up several bins that I went through emptied up small plastic boxes that had sweaters in them and got most of the clothes hangers out of the closets (both closets) pulled out most of the stuff on the floor of one want to vacuum first before I finish it up but it looks like it's mainly boxes for the decorative plates and looks like a large glass plate or possibly a mirror when she used to make wedding cakes she would often put them on a mirror... so it wouldn't surprise me...
it looks like a lot of changes coming... Catherine and Judy looking for a new dwelling and Judy going on an intensive long trip it sounds like it will be a fun time... Sue having a lot of repairs going on... and I know that there where a lot more input ... Beth do you still plan on going to Iowa in June?
you all have a great day

Sandi, just thought of something else. When I had knee replacements and was home alone, I would call a friend before I got into the shower or did something like climbing stairs. I would tell her what I was going to do and then call her after I was done. If she did not hear from me, she would try to reach me and if I did not answer, she would call 911 or come over.

That way I felt safer and people didn’t worry about me falling.
